That has now been widely debunked as a fake. Apparently the uniforms don't match, one is no longer in use, and they are being worn improperly. The boots don't match and one pair is civilian, they are missing equipment they should have, they put the person into the back without handcuffs (apparently a big law enforcement no-no), and on and on.

from the p-g blog:

Some demonstrators want police to identify themselves

From Jon Silver
12:20 p.m.
Some in the crowd at Fifth and Craft want police officers to identify themselves. The officers have identification armbands, but they don't specify what agency or department the officer works for. "We have a right to know who we are oppressed by," said Bill Wolfe, 52, an environmental professional from Ringoes, N.J., has two children who are students at Carnegie Mellon University. "I pay my taxes, I have every right to know." He's there to advocate in favor of policies to reduce global warming. He's on a bike, and said that about 20 officers in riot gear came through the crowd and some were pushing and bumping people. "It ws very intimidating, very, kind of provocative. I didn't think there was any reason for it. Those are the kinds of things that precipitate violence." Lillian Thomas

I bet the Anarchists have something up their sleeves. The scanner has been broadcasting about a "super saw" being stolen overnight from some school that will cut thru anything as well as numerous locks and chains.

You probably need a little aviation background to appreciate the scope of this, but here's a link to the TFR (Temporary Flight Restriction) surrounding the event:
9/9248 NOTAM Details (http://tfr.faa.gov/save_pages/detail_9_9248.html - broken link)

Esentially, unless you jump through the proper hoops, there's 30 mile no-fly zone in effect around Pittsburgh.

Also, has anybody besides me noticed the continual presence of F-16s in the local airspace?

Watching this video of the students makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. I may have to pull out my copy of Mein Kampf and start signing "Das Lied der Deutschen" .

Looks like something out of NAZI Germany. Sad to see what is taking place in Pittsburgh.

Probably something like this.

Last year during the DNC, the Denver Post reported that the police were using this same tactic to set up the opposition for arrest. Saw the original article about it last year.

The anti-capitalist pinkos who are protesting and throwing rocks and destroying property need to get jobs. No wonder they hate capitalism, they're too lazy to work.

Funny how liberals love to blast the tea parties, which are nothing more than peaceful demonstrations, yet they're silent when fellow socialists assault the police and destroy property....

I can't imagine why those anarchists are protesting this event. If you look at how many countries are attending and the political leanings of their respective leaders, I think you'll find that most are from socialist countries that discourage real free market capitalism.
