My brother in law works in Washington, PA, close to where 70 meets 79.

Right now he rents in Washington, but as a young single guy, he's looking to move a little bit closer to the city.

He'd like to still be within a ~20 minute drive of work.
His ideal budget is ~$800/month, including utilities, but he can spend up to $1000.
He's looking for a community at least a little more lively than Washington (maybe a wine bar or a movie theatre open after 8 pm?)

He's been looking into the communities just off of 79.
Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks!

This is a bit further than 20 minutes away, but perhaps Dormont or Mt. Lebanon? I can't think of anywhere closer that even remotely has a young person's scene.

This is also what I was thinking. I don't exactly imagine Bridgeville would be a hip or happening place for a young professional.

Pretty much what I suspected, as well!

Can anyone speak to the commute times? Google maps says 29 minutes at minimum, depending upon traffic.

I think something in Bridgeville or South Fayette close to 79 would be his best option. I would rather have a shorter commute to work and relatively quick access to where ever I wanted to go at night. Dormont and most of Mt. Lebanon don't have quick access to 79.

yep, google is right. I venture to suggest that a young person might do good in Canonsburg? There's Jay's and the iceoplex and all those restaurants and bar on rte 19 and rent will be cheaper than in lebo but you might hit the bars in the region and lebo which are in a short distance.

I know a lot of young professionals in Southpointe. some of them rent locally some in Lebo or upper st clair but they definitely have fun. I know I did when I worked there. I'd say it's not that far.
