Seems like the posters have one thing in common on this thread. They love Pittsburgh. So here is my question, 'If you love the 'burgh' so much, why are you moving in droves down to North Carolina/Raleigh?' . Everyday I come across alot of burgh transplants down here. I only lived in the burgh for 4 years and yes I was glad to get out. Why do you leave?

Maybe you should be on the NC board and ask those who did!

I'm a non-native who actually just committed to living in Pittsburgh (after considering several other options), so I am also the wrong person to ask.

People move to different places ALL THE TIME. If folks from PA were "moving out in droves" we would have a MUCH smaller population. I assure you, there are MANY people left in Pittsburgh. Some move away while others move to Pittsburgh & PA. It's the nature of things and NOT specific to Pittsburgh only.

We have been away for 20+ years with the USAF. Currently live in Cheyenne. We are moving back to PA(Mars, PA)to be with family and true, life-long friends. On top of that we miss PA and the beauty and outdoor recreation it offers. I like Cheyenne but you can have THE WIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll take the PA humidity and the wonderful 4 seasons it offers, especially fall.

Of course we did have a huge number of young people leave as a result of not being able to find jobs after the steel bust, so there was a well-known "Pittsburgh Diaspora" (or the creation of the "Steeler Nation" if you prefer). But that pretty much wrapped up quite a while ago now.

I agree that you should post this on the NC board to ask the people who did leave Pittsburgh.

I find it interesting that you only have 9 posts and know Yac. Perhaps you were a troll in another internet life...
