Thanks again Hopes.

I had in my mind that I would just do something in hospitality or retail, but was considering some options. I still do think those would be my first choices anyway, as far as jobs go, but was just wondering about other industries.
Is Pittsburgh known for bigger (office type) companies to be based in the city? I know I said office jobs are boring, but I guess I should try put my newly acquired degree to some use

We have lots of large "office type" companies downtown.

A good way to get your foot in the door is through the temporary agencies. That way you'll earn some money from the very start.

Still plan on working in hospitality as your backup plan. There are lots of restaurant and hotel jobs since there is a high employee turnover in those areas.

Hey, at least it's good to know that there is something available in your first choice!

I'm not trying to send you away from Pittsburgh, but if you're interested in hospitality, have you considered working at the resorts throughout the country?

Many of these jobs provide room and board. Be selective. Some are better deals than others. Some have free room and board, some take money out of the paycheck.

Check out this website: CoolWorks.com - Summer Jobs and Seasonal Jobs in Great Places

I know a young man who went to work at a ski resort in the Rockies as a ski lift operator one winter.

When the season was over, he was offered a permanent year round management position at the resort.

He loves his lifestyle!

Pittsburgh has more than it's fair share of Fortune 500 companies and Fortune 1000, for that matter.

Hey again. I have looked into the resort based jobs, as a lot of the work offered by these VISA companies offer it. But I'm really looking at experiencing what it's like to live in an American city. I feel I won't get that from living somewhere out in the mountains or wherever. I'm also considering doing that when I go to Canada after my visa expires

Also, are there any popular websites that Pittsburghers use alot to scout out rental properties and job vacancies, other than Craigslist?

Hi Sheezy, not sure if you moved to Pgh or not but it's a great place to live. If you're interested in rugby for playing or just watching it on TV with fellow fans, look up my team at www.pghrugby.com That bar in the southside is Ruggers Pub and we own it. Hope you find your way in.
