I'm a Pirate fan from way back myself... can't say that I'm rooting for the Phillies but I'd like to see the NL win the series and I certainly have no love for the Yankees.

Enthusiastic ditto. Especially point number 2.

And I'll throw in:
3) The most obnoxious fan base in professional sports.

So true. Baseball is almost as useless as basketball, but for the fact it's somewhat entertaining to actually be at a game.

^^^Yes, this has gotten way dragged out. It's a good thing (not really) that the Rockies didn't make it; we had a huge snowstorm yesterday and today. It was bad enough that a playoff game had to be rescheduled.

Other than the Steelers' fan base.

And people complain about the weather here. Interesting.

Places like Detroit and Pittsburgh that have great teams tend to forget that, but I suppose that's true of any sport. Baseball a great sport, not every sport has two be two teams savagely beating each other into shortened life spans and dementia.

I'm curious as to why there's so much Philly hate since it doesn't seem to be reciprocated (except for the Pens). The Phillies were so awful for so long it's hard to believe they have much of a rivalry at all. Indeed, their main rival, the Mets, was usually battling for the cellar. I'd have to agree that the Yankees worst aspect is their fans who seem to think that they AND their team are superior to all others in baseball. I respect Rivera, the best closer in history, and Jeter (maybe not Aroid). I also respect the way the Phillies treat their fan base, the classy way they handled their announcer of 27 years death (playing clips of him at every game), and working to promote baseball in inner cities by funding some inner city parks.

The most painful thing to be, I suppose, is a Cleveland fan, watching two former pitchers and manager in the World series and have so little to show for it (Cleff Lee, Sabathia, and Manuel).

technically, all sports aer useless I suppose.

There doesn't seem to be too much Philly hate on this thread. I hate the Flyers (naturally), don't hate the Eagles (why would I? I wanted them in the Superbowl last year and obviously would have rooted against them, but I don't hate them) and don't have an opinion of the Phillies, except I'd like them to win again for the Commonwealth and because the Yankees stand for everything I hate about baseball. I personally love Philadelphia as a city.
