As what I have been told by a number of family and friends in that area.

I plan on moving back next spring after the fall of 2010 semester. My plan is to get into the Sports Management at Robert Morris University. I attend college in Arizona and promised my mom I would stay untill I am after 21. Plus I don't have the money and resources to move up just yet. Damn economy!

We'll still have ice storms next year!

As a mother, I definitely agree that you should keep your promise to your mother!

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PITTSBURGH PA
316 PM EST THU JAN 7 2010

<snip>

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/...
SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE SHOULD PROVIDE A BREAK FROM PRECIPITATION SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY. THE GFS AND ECMWF BOTH BRING A WEAK SYSTEM THROUGH THE REGION MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY...SO WILL INCLUDE SMALL CHANCE POPS FOR SNOW SHOWERS IN THE FAR NORTH. HIGH PRESSURE IS EXPECTED TO REESTABLISH ITSELF WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY KEEPING CONDITIONS DRY.

TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN BELOW NORMAL EARLY IN THE WEEK BUT SHOULD RECOVER TO NEAR NORMAL FOR WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY.
back at ya!

(I've been living in a snow plow truck, working ridiculous hours for what seems like a month. If I'm not outside, I'm holding a vigil here in front of the computer, staring at weather radar. I hang on every word that comes out of the NWS, and other sources. I don't remember the last time my feet were dry, the names of my children, or where I left my favorite pair of gloves, but I do remember when they said I might get a break.

Sorry. I'm sleep deprived and in a pissy mood.... )

We're supposed to get a reprieve starting Sunday and even a heat wave up into the 30s next week. And then it might even reach 40 next Friday before we get a lovely mix of ice and such potentially on Saturday and Sunday next week. (Source: AccuWeather.com) Note that beyond a few days, even with all the technology, weather forecasts remain pretty iffy....

The "heat wave" (temps in 30s) started here in CO today. My bro tells me it takes three days for our weather to get to Pgh. Monday sounds about right.

It's felt closer to 30-ish for the past two days, but they just reported on the late evening news that it will be dropping into the teens this weekend.

Just wanted to thank you for helping to keep us safe on the roads - it is much appreciated!

Thanks for responding to ditchdigger's post. I had missed it until I read your reply.

Ditchdigger, thank you for sacrificing your family and comfort for us! Please keep yourself safe by getting as much sleep as possible when you can!

Just to be clear, I do private snow removal--parking lots and sidewalks, but thank you for saying thank you.

(And to my friends and aquaintences who always want to blame me when it snows, cause they think I wish for it, nothing could be further from the truth. I'm soo tired of it. It's incredibly abusive to the equipment, and the people, and it quit being fun a long time ago.)

The folks at PennDOT and your local road crews have been working pretty hard too. They take a lot of abuse when things aren't perfect, so, as somebody who understands the challenges involved, it's good to see them getting some appreciation too...
