If you rent you are not allowed, but your own your home you can? Why? There is no more available parking where I’m going to be residing. Anyone know if this has changed?

If you mean the residential parking permit, renters can get one. It's never changed. Maybe you were talking to somebody who was not a legal tenant.

Default Thank you.

I was concerned because I though I had seen this when we went to view our place. Perhaps I read it wrong. We def need to buy one. Thank you!

Any resident who can prove their residence can get one. Non-resident OWNERS can't. That's why they don't accept a water bill as proof of reesidence; landlords usually pay water, but tenants pay the other utilities.

Apparently some areas you can’t buy a permit. North Oakland won’t allow it. So I have to find parking somehow. What a nightmare. Even if you are a resident. I just spoke with parking authority. Apparently the apartment building had issues with the city. Gosh, I feel nervous now.

The only parking I have are ( potential) free spots or a private person to rent from. The only other option our landlord gave was the garage at Forbes and Semple and it’s full, that is a 20 minute walk. They don’t expect any vacancies on the rental property to open. They will not use a wait list either. So I’m forced to ask every day if one opens?

So anyone know of any legitimate private owners near Bigelow whom are renting a Safe, accessible parking space? Lol! I will be attending an local giftmeeting to change the law, I think I have a right to permit park close to where I live. I’ll find one, then I’ll help fight the right to permit park in North Oakland. As it’s currentky not allowed for anyone in this section. What are people suppose to do?
