My girlfriend that works at Viacom just informed me that MTV is now scouting cities for upcoming Real World season and supposedly Pittsburgh is at the top of the list...They're supposedly in talks with the Pgh film office at this point...

She seen some type of Documentation.....She doent work directly with MTV but we've had coversations where we discussed my liking to see Pittsburgh showcased in a real world season...and she just happend to see the plans for the upcoming seasons.

I'm now thinking where would the house be located if it was to happen.

I'm thinking Mt. Washington would probably be the most practial or the Southside slopes or flats would work.

I've wondered about this possibility in the past. It would be interesting to see how they handle it (e.g., will they try to make use of hipster-friendly Rust Belt chic?).

There was a rumor going around a few years ago that the Real World would be in Pittsburgh, and that they were going to use that brightly colored house that you can see on the side on Mt. Washington. Of course, that never happened.

The rumor mill, years back, was they had already filmed it here...like in the early 2000's, but it was BORING, not enough DRAMA, so MTV scrapped it. The house was supposedly up on Mount Washington. I believe the rumor because I overheard a girl, on the bus, talkin' on the cellphone, about how she was in some bar and she turned around and saw the camera crew from the Real World in there....

Really never knew they already had, or supposedly had filmed here....Thought they never considered Pittsburgh before.

Wonder if their looking at it again because of all the Good Press about the 'burgh....

Couldn't have been more BORING than the Paris season, by far the most Boring. That season you had roommates that didnt even participate (meaning you never saw them onscreen) they were off in there own world.

Personally, I think the whole Real World formula's gone off the rails. The first few seasons were actually compelling, and the people had jobs and interests. Now they just cast drunk skanks who'll get in fights and screw on camera.

I'm all about showcasing Pittsburgh in national forums, but keep MTV the heck out of here. The Real World, as it was initially, was a groundbreaking show that dealt with real issues and was interesting to watch. Now (pretty much since the Las Vegas season- that's when it REALLY went to trash) it's basically soft core porn with a bunch of horny drunks.

I'll admit I haven't even been tempted to watch the Real World since I figured out where they were going with Las Vegas (since then I've at most seen clips on shows like The Soup).

That said, optimist that I am, I could still see such a season doing a little positive marketing work for Pittsburgh. Strange as it may sound, I think a lot of people elsewhere have an impression of Pittsburgh that is inconsistent with just basic things like the way the city looks and the fact we do have some bars where young people go.

The very first NEW YORK, the very first L.A., San Francisco, and Miami were the best ones....

And, yes, Paris was mad boring. Never thought about that in comparison as to them scrapping the "rumored' Pittsburgh one due to it being boring with not enough drama.
