Have you been sleeping tha past 9 years? If you wake up, you'll quite plainly see that the incompetency of the Bush and Obama administrations far outweighs the incompetency of any local leadership. Neither of these guys could direct a snowplow operation any better than the local guys.

I doubt any of the 3 could direct a snowplow operation, since none of them have ever worked in the real world.

Benz...admittedly I am a non-thorough reader at times. My Bad! No offense intended. Just wanted to make a point that most so-called leaders at any level of government have a tendency toward incompetency. For better or worse, government seems to attract people who are incompetent with regard to practical affairs.

You know, as long as I can remember government leaders would justify their high salaries by saying, "We have to able to attract the best, so we need to have salaries equal to the private sector."

Look where that's gotten us. If not for the Dem party and his political ties, I'm guessing Boy Luke would be saying, "yinz want fries wit that?"

Damn the mayor makes 100 grand. That's kinda crazy. For that kind of cash he needs to accept problems and work it out, not whine and deny that there were problems.

FEMA rules may block federal aid for snowstorms

Quote:
The sunny spell that Western Pennsylvania experienced between the two winter storms that hit the area in the past week might have been welcome at the time, but it could end up costing the region a chance at federal disaster relief.

U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy, R-Upper St. Clair, held a conference call with more than 70 local officials Thursday in which he informed them that the three-day break in the snowy action means that we were hit by two separate storms.

Federal Emergency Management Agency rules for relief from severe winter storms state that the snowfall must have occurred "within a 48-hour period."

I think we both realize that this mythological nonesense has exactly the opposite effect. Many people who fill government positions are people who are rising UP for a pay hike that they could never achieve in the private sector. The really competent ( and many incompetent...witness the wall street CEOs ) people are already making waaaaaaaaaaaaay more than a government salary in the private sector. If we did away with career politicians, and made influence pedalling illegal after leaving office, the high paid, out-of-touch, greedy SOBs would stay out of governement. Those fat cats are so out of touch with the average citizen that their so-called expertise, experience, and competence usually makes things worse for the average citizen.

Nonetheless, there must be someone out there who could effectively manage a snowplow operation, but that is not likely to come from a politician at any level of government.

Teehee. Oh, yeah, absolutely! LOL Hey, I could be moving back to the city one day, but I'm sure I'd p*ss off too many people to have even a remote chance at getting elected to anything.
