Yep, I hope the city is enjoying him. The only good candidate I can remember in recent years was Mark DeSantis and he didn't get much support despite spending a million or so on his campaign...

I'm not touching this...

Personally, I think Lukie is obviously at fault here, but at the same time, I think he's taking too much flak as result of this storm. Hindsight is 20/20, it was a milestone birthday for him, and weather reports GROSSLY underestimated the strength of the storm. I'm not condoning his actions one bit, but I do think too much blame is being tossed his way. At least about his little soiree; his organization of the Public Works and their storm plan is a different issue entirely.

Milestone birthday? Please! The milestones end at 21 and don't start again until 50!

The point here is, the mayor, as public servant of the city, doesn't go out of town for any circumstances during impending severe weather conditions. This isn't 3-4 inches we're talking about, more in the range of 6-12 inches of snow was forecasted to fall that day, and while that was below actual snowfall, that would've still been enough for him to stay put just in case things turned for the worse, and hell did things turn for the worse.

Until someone can produce evidence that he paid less than market rate for the place, I don't see what the issue is.

It Mayor Ravenstahl perfect? No. Is there a bit or a witchhunt? Maybe. It is ever so easy to scrutinize politicans for selfish motives.

Even more ridiculous than all of this nonsense is this.........That's Church » Dear Lukey,

I honestly don't know who she thinks she is. Someone pointed out to me that she was blasting all over Twitter asking people if they had seen the Mayor? Why does she care? She is not even a citizen of the city. And her constant running of her mouth about him while posting anonymous ended up costing her job. And even better, someone mentioned that she run for mayor. God help us.

I think this city would be a mess whether he would have been in town or not during the onset of the snow storm. I see the real issues being lack of snow removal equipment to cover a larger area of the city limits. A bigger issue is people just don't know how to navigate in winter weather around here. This lead to terrible traffic back ups, increased accidents because people were on the road when they should not have been, lots of abandoned vehicles, and so many cars parked on some side streets that plows could not get down them.

Come on, now. PittGirl is one of the funniest local bloggers.

But she's not actually a citizen of the city? Where does she live?

I don't see what the mayor being out of town has to do with snow not being cleared...If the city had a solid plan they wouldn't need him to step in and do anything. If the city had a plan even mid-level city employees could have handled all of the snow.

The real problem is that the city obviously never bothered to put a plan together for this kind of situation. They did no contingency planning.
