I am someone who loves the beauty of the outdoors. Hiking, biking, trees, flowers, water... Where in Pittsburgh would you send someone who enjoys these things? Just to spend the day?

Thank you

Schenley Park (near Pitt and CMU). Phipps Conservatory is at the entrance and has various rooms with plants and flowers. The park has a lake down in a valley and a golf course.

If you are able to drive go to Raccoon Creek State Park outside of the airport. It is about 35 minutes from Downtown. Take 22 West past Hanky farms, and follow route 8. They have a 20 mile loop around the park that I like to jog/hike once a month. It is hard to go anywhere else for a serious day hike and not drive a full hour and half. There is also a really nice mellow lake, streams, and other trails for biking and horse back riding. I think it is one of the most underrated state parks around Pittsburgh. Everybody goes to Ohiopyle, which is a beautiful place, but you can get to Raccoon creek in less than half the time and distance.

In the city, go to Frick or Schenley. Those are the parks I am familiar with. I go runnin through them every day. My favorite is Frick.
