Can anyone tell me anything about Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church at 237 37th Street in what I suppose would be Lower Lawrenceville? This looks to be the only Lutheran church within walking distance of Polish Hill. I can't find anything about it online. I can't believe it doesn't have a website or a Facebook page. I'm supposing that means it's mostly a geriatric congregation?

I googled it and, yeah, nothing. I'd try calling one of the other Lutheran congregations. My friend who goes to an Episcopal church and his co-parishioners spend lots of time gossiping about other parishes. Of course, Pgh was a flashpoint for lots of the Gay Bishop controversy a few years ago, so there was lots to gossip about, but you get my point.

I actually found a phone number online, called it, and got their voicemail, which told me that their services are Sundays at 9 AM. Good to know! I look forward to scoping them out!

There's a Unitarian church in Shadyside that is very socially liberal. That might be a better option for a gay man.

Thanks. Good to know. I'll probably stay the more "traditional" route, though, for my parents' sake.

Just in case, it's located at Ellsworth and Morewood. http://www.first-unitarian-pgh.org/

I resigned from my parents' religion in 4th grade, btw.
