All that Blanche Lincoln's primary win demonstrates is how easily a straw man can be knocked down. The so-called anti-incumbency mood of the electorate was a fabrication of the left wing media and political operatives (some would say they are one and the same) the growing anger at Obama and the Democrats and their policies. By attributing that anger to resentment of incumbents in general it deflected criticism away from the policy debate. And with incumbents like Robert Bennett in Utah being tossed out by his party the left could claim that he was a victim of the anti-incumbent virus and that it threatens Reps and Dems equally. We've seen this kind of strawman deflection before, most notably in 1994 when the media attributed the Republican wins to the angry white men and, as Peter Jennings dubbed it, the voters having a tantrum.

The Left can persuade itself that voter anger has nothing to do with their policies but come November the results will tell a different story. But coming back to Lincoln opposition to her had nothing to do with anti-incumbency but rather she was the victim of a well-financed, well-coordinated old fashioned party purging that fizzled. George Soros and the unions poured millions in that race to unseat her because the party purists felt she was not sufficiently supportive of Obama, Reid and Pelosi. She has yet to face the ire of the general electorate, not over incumbency, but over her support for failed policies that have harmed the people of Arkansas and of the U.S.

Rather funny that while the media once again using their top down approach to selling the masses a narrative that didn't actually exist apparently.

Of the 84 incumbents running in the primaries this week, 82 incumbents won. So, as the media chanted incessantly over the past few weeks about "anti-incumbent" sentiment SWEEPING the nation, only 2 lost their bid.

And this is the same media that tells us the recovery is happening, homes are selling and people are finding jobs.....

What this says is that Americans are happy with the current administration and how things are working in DC because they are sending the same bunch back there.

I also saw this in 2008...with all the outrage on TARP, the very ones that voted YES got re-elected.

Tells me that this outrage is from a vocal minority.

Well a strange thing happens in politics when it concerns local political figures. While polls in the US show that citizens rate their government and even more so their Congress at all time lows, incumbents always have an advantage in nearly every case. It is almost as though people say to themselves, yeah all of Congress sucks bog water, but.... my Congressman isn't too bad. Now when everyone thinks this way, breaking the grip establishment type politics is next to impossible.

A similar thing happens during Presidential elections where people are presented by the media and its advocacy journalism, two ultimate choices, this guy or that guy and everyone else is just a waste. It then becomes a self fulfilling prophecy which is then followed a few months later by people saying, "boy if I had it all to do over again"

What are you talking about?

See, you fell for the anti-incumbent narrative from the Left and the media.

Let's see - TP candidate in NV won, in SC, Fiorina and Whitman were Palin's choice. Paul was a TP favorite.

You won't be seeing that rage until Nov.

And the Left, unions, move-on SUFFERED a humiliating defeat in Arkansas.

It was never about and will not be about anti-incumbency. It WILL be about obama's policies and the mess he and the dems have created AND the way they went about doing it.

The lincoln win was interesting because her challenger was further to the left than she was, and he was heavily backed by union dollars and lost.

The real question will be answered in november. I expect heavy turnover.

You talk about one Democrat primary and so many Republican ones were won by people that were pushed by the Tea Party and Sarah Palin. Now how does Lincoln win the next one?
