Yes, you read that right. DEBT not DEFICIT.

U.S debt to rise to $19.6 trillion by 2015 | Reuters

The U.S. debt will top $13.6 trillion this year and climb to an estimated $19.6 trillion by 2015, according to a Treasury Department report to Congress.

Quote:
The report that was sent to lawmakers Friday night with no fanfare said the ratio of debt to the gross domestic product would rise to 102 percent by 2015 from 93 percent this year.
I would imagine not. Obama and the democrat party want to keep the fact that they will grow the debt to almost $20 trillion a secret.

This came out FRIDAY? Where is the US media on this story? We have to depend on Friggin Reuters to hear this "news"? Well, we know where they are - trying to cover obama's a**.

Quote:
The U.S. debt has grown rapidly with the economic downturn and government spending for the Wall Street bailout, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and the economic stimulus.

The administration promised to cut 5% next year. Obama has asked all agencies to submit their cuts to him by end of September I think.

Somehow I don't think 5% is going to cut it.

Yes, 30 years of reckless debt spending is all one persons fault.

Especially when people want the same spending, or more for tax breaks for businesses and unemployment, and lower taxes.

Go partisan insanity, misdirection and angry ranting by the wing-nuts.

Seems to be what the Dems are doing as well..angry ranting at Bush while the Repubs are doing angry ranting at Obama.

One day you'll both wake up and see that you are ranting against the same thing.

I have a major problem with the logistics of this. It's common knowledge that reports issued on Friday afternoon are relegated to the Pile of Obscurity by the media. No one is watching on Fridays while they indulge in happy hour or dinner with the family, so some of the most damning reports from the government are issued during this obscure timeframe. It sounds like the Treasury is conciencious of the effect that this report will have on Barack Obama.

What bothers me is that Treasury, who by all measures should be a neutral institution, is engaging in political padding by issuing a debt report that is damaging to the President on a Friday. This is not an accident folks.

This is yet another reason not to trust this Government, in my opinion.

I think you've missed the last 3 1/2 years, where the democrats in congress have grown the debt - from $8.5 Trillion to over $13 Trillion and what their policies will do in another 4 1/2 years.

This isn't a Bush or Obama thing.

Our politicians-the one who are supposed defend this country and serve the people-have FAILED us. Both Democrat and Republican.

Shameful is the nicest way to put it. Now the innocent will suffer for their greediness and pride.
