With the ever mounting failures and incompetence of the Obama administration, it makes one wonder if voters will avoid black presidents in the future, or simply overlook his race and attribute his failures to personal incompetence? I think that his presidency, while historic in being the first black president, may diminish the hopes of future black candidates, as voters will have Obama in the back of thier minds.

I hope not. I really think the country is past that.

I hope not. Skin color shouldn't be a factor in evaluating someone's competence to run the highest elected office.
If anything, I hope this shows that experience should be a bigger factor than skin color and campaign promises.

Only for people who are already racist. I'm sure GWB's epic failures won't keep people from voting for a white president.

well, since Obama is just as white as he is black, would it mean that the voters would avoid white presidents in the future also? Or does that mean that they would avoid black/white biracial presidents, but be okay if it was all white or all black?

What are you talking about? What failures? Please explain, so we can decide if this forum makes any sense or is it a attack based on race? Are you stating that Bush thinks better than Obama?

That's just ridiculous. These partisan attitudes get conversations no where. I understand the frustration with Obama, but to make claims like these is just...well stupid.
And I sure hope Obama's "failures" (if you want to call them that) don't keep people from voting for another black person. I thought this country was over race issues.

This will be the truth. Just as if Hilary would have won and this same thing would have happened, people would be more wary of putting a woman in the white house. Whether you agree with it or not doesn't matter.

Why would this country be past that? Last time I checked the democrats are constantly painting the Republicans and especially the tea-partiers as a bunch of racists. You have people like Al Sharpton on the news constantly claiming racism for almost everything. You have the Arizona immigration law stirring up even more racial debates. And then theres the reality of high minority unemployment, high minority crime, and then the constant claims of affirmative-action in politics in the case of everyone from Obama, to Jindal, to Michael Steele, to even the decision for McCain to have Palin as his running mate.
