Eisenhower was the last great president. He fathered the Interstate system, put down Britain, France, and Israel during their invasions of the Suez Canal Zone, and he was proactive in securing the terms of the peace treaty that ended the Korean War. Two civil rights bills passed during his term, he is largely responsible for widespread access to public education, and NASA was established under Eisenhower.. He only had two shortcomings, one was authorizing CIA assistance to British MI6 in Operation Ajax, the second was supporting the French in Southeast Asia which would eventually draw us into the Vietnam War.

Not to mention his prior work as Supreme Allied Commander in Europe during WWII.

That alone established him as a great man. The Presidency was just topping on the sundae.
