crack, heroine, meth, legalize them all. prohibition doesnt deter drug use, a junkie is gonna do whatever it takes to get it regardless of the law. the notion that drug use is gonna skyrocket is baloney.
if someone wants to harm themselves, thats their decision. putting addicts in prison is pointless and a waste of money.
free will and freedom baby, what a beautiful thing.
Ok well your example of lending your cell phone to your neighbor then was misleading and that is what assumed. Also good for you for reporting it, hopefully one day when she is arrested the parents will say enough is enough and let her pay for her crimes .
I guess I don't get what was misleading about "Or maybe when they've lost their cell phone for the 30th time and try to borrow their neighbors ( me) phone at all hours."
nothing in that says I did lend it to them 30 times

Sorry about that, I didnt realize two guys were on here defending this crazy idea. My reply stays the same regardless of what you posted. Just because it works for one drug doesnt mean it works for every drug. I get what you guys are trying to convey but I've seen firsthand too many people and families destroyed by this drug and even after the use has stopped and they are trying to get "clean" they are so impaired they cannot function normally ever again. I've seen plenty of recovered alcoholics functioning well in society. I just can't compare the two equally ..

Part one: Must have misread sorry about that.
Part two: Who says it doesn't work for every drug? Do you really believe keeping it illegal is going to make the problem go away? What are you afraid of if it becomes legal exactly? I have seen plenty of "recovered alcoholics relapse also, are you saying meth addicts can't recover and not relapse? If so why do we have rehab clinics for these people if they never work?
Instead of all these laws banning this and that - making some folks very rich over it.
Thre should be some very serious education effort starting in pre-k.
Teach kids self respect. Teach them pride in beautiful healthy bodies. Teach them that Health is the norm. Teach them good nutrition. Teach them what happens when they consume or inhale substances that are not compatible with healthy bodies.
Actually teaching the value of healthy bodies and how to maintain them is more important that teaching them History. And they could add the health of people in history, showing that they didn't take proper care of themselves and many of them died young as a result.
George Washington had to have all his teeth pulled. Question on exam -"What could G. Washington have done to keep his teeth?"

In response to Part 2 , California passed Prop 36 back in 2000, it provided rehab for 1st and 2nd time offenders, between 50-60% relapsed and were eventually incarcerated. It did save some $$ supposedly but it seemed to just delay incarceration so not really as effective as it was hoped. I think at this point funding has run out as CA's budget has serious issue
But I'm not really sure on that and dont really care enough to look it up hehehee but feel free. But what I was really saying was no so much that they can't recover by relapsing but even those that do recover... really struggle as it destroys the pleasure neurons ( sorry don't know the technical/scientific word) so they basically now go through life without experiencing pleasure and it's hard to function normally. I've seen numerous programs about this and this is what "recovered" meth users say is most difficult about recovery as for some this never returns.
