Lift the political moratorium. We all know he put it in place with no forethought, just a knee-jerk reaction at damage control to save his own nasty butt and try and convince people that he was actually doing something.
I think we know what this administration is doing. What better way to get rid of evil oil than to implement an unjustified moratorium that will destroy their economy and lose tens of thousands of jobs.

Even as an ecological catastrophe makes the future of U.S. offshore drilling less certain, Brazil is plowing ahead with a $220 billion five-year plan to tap oil fields even deeper than BP's (BP.L) ill-fated Gulf well, which is still leaking crude.
With an estimated 35 rigs idled in the Gulf of Mexico, Brazil is already receiving inquiries from companies looking to
move their rigs here, where vast discoveries in recent years may soon turn the country into a major crude exporter.

I knew it all along. barry will profit from this...oh yes he will...he's gonna darn sure make more money for his coffers....oh yes he is...it's done. Just like this health care reform crap was shoved down our throats...so this will be as well...whether we like it or not...here we go folks!
The Brazil thing is scary. First an alliance with Iran, then a step up in oil exploration and (eventually) production. Neither of those scenarios bode well for the United States from a geopolitical standpoint.
These type of bans are not new, in fact they were put in place in the past after previous oil spills as well, most notably the 79 Spill in the Gulf and the Exxon-Valdez spill.
The people on the coast are wiped out, he wipes out the workers on the other oil rigs and now go's after BP dividends, American stockholders who depend on that for support in their retirement. He must be peeing his pants over the thrill of destroying so many more Americans life lines.

BP is stuck between a rock and a hard place. If they can afford this whole mess but cutting the stockholders is going to put them in bankrupcy. If people around the world can't get their dividends, they will bail on the company which will bankrupt them. If we go after them to soon, we could be holding the bag for just about everything. Very touchy situation.
I predict that BP will cut capacity at other wells and refineries, thus sending supply tumbling, thus sending crude prices up, thus creating higher gas prices, thus a bankrolling nice fund for the escrow account Obama is demanding.
This will only last for a short period until demand slows down due to higher prices, so the wallet-squeeze could get very fierce for a while in order to maximize the revenue window of opportunity.
Make no mistake about it: The American People all over the country will likely feel the pinch of this crisis finanically. When supply and demand principles take hold (higher costs at the pump), all fingers may well point back to this Administration.
