Despite all the planning and effort put into placing the boom, authorities say boaters made it past the crews and sabotaged some of the floating barricades.
Coast Guard officials tell us at least 5 boom locations in Acadiana have been vandalized, which is a major problem because it slows down all the efforts on the water.
Some of the lines on the boom have been cut thus taking away the importance of boom being maintained at staging locations. Along with cutting the boom, authorities tell us the criminals stole anchors off them as well, making them useless in the fight the crude.
