It was a private Christian school. They can do what they want and they want their teachers to live by their religious beliefs. I don't see a problem with that. The teacher herself admitted to the incident.

Fairly sure they can't do that...

And fairly sure that private schools are also under Federal non-Discrimination laws.

As she should be for practicing that unethical and immoral behavior.

Where was the discrimination. She was fired for a behavior. Not because she was black or lesbian or Muslim. Fire away.
However, you better have a team of lawyers on retention.

Well we'll have to wait to see it play out in court.
It's a Christian school that preaches no sex before marriage so I think they have some grounds.
There was a morality clause in her contract that she signed.

If you read the article completely, it sounds more like the school was concerned about paying maternity leave than anything else.

It's a discrimination case. The school can try to pretend that it's a moral, but that just won't fly in court. You don't fire pregnant women. Period.

She was fired for being pregnant. That's discrimination.

I agree with Hopes. If she wasn't pregnant, I would side with the school, however.

Exactly. They could have waited a year and then it wouldn't matter.

But the law is very clear about pregnancy discrimination and this school's moral claim doesn't sidestep pregnancy discrimination.

The moral claim actually validates the pregnancy discrimination.

Here's the EEOC webpage on Pregnancy Discrimination: Pregnancy Discrimination
