I'm a registered Republic who is a moderate swing voter.

Although I am somewhat moderate, I can have a strong stand on issues.

What makes me a swing voter is that I don't embrace all issues of one side or the other.

As a result, I thought it would be interesting for people to list what side they fall on each issue---conservative, liberal or moderate if neither fit.

I'm taking these issues from the following site and basing my answers on the definitions provided, and adding a couple of extra issues at the end:

Conservative vs. Liberal Beliefs

Abortion --- Moderate
Affirmative Action ---- Moderate
Death Penalty ---- Liberal
Economy -- Moderate
Education/School Vouchers ---- Conservative
Environment ---- Moderate
Gun Control ---- Conservative
Healthcare ---- Liberal
Homeland Security ---- Liberal
Immigration ---- Moderate
Religion ---- Moderate (since I believe neither church or state should interfere with one or the other)
Same Sex Marriage ---- Liberal
Social Security ---- Moderate
Taxes ---- Moderate
War in Iraq ---- Liberal
War on Terror ---- Liberal
Welfare ---- Conservative

Marijuana Legalization ---- Liberal
Stem Cell Research ---- Moderate

Where do you stand?

I might agree with you on some of the moderates but think you can put me down as conservative on almost all of those you are liberal about. Just the opposite might be what I mean.

Well, I'm an Indpendent that most would consider liberal but my views are not tied to any single political philosophy but are based solely on my own personal values.

Conservative vs. Liberal Beliefs

Abortion --- Conservative
Affirmative Action ---- Moderate
Death Penalty ---- Liberal
Economy -- Moderate
Education/School Vouchers ----Moderate
Environment ---- Liberal
Gun Control ---- Moderate
Healthcare ---- Liberal
Homeland Security ---- Moderate
Immigration ---- Liberal
Religion ----I am a committed Christian but I do not believe in a Theocracy and believe in freedom of faith for all.
Same Sex Marriage ---- Liberal
Social Security ---- Liberal
Taxes ---- Moderate
War in Iraq ---- Liberal
War on Terror ---- Liberal
Welfare ---- Moderate
Marijuana Legalization ---- Liberal
Stem Cell Research ---- Moderate
I would add Civil Rights...meaning that ALL Americans' rights should be protected - Liberal

Kind of interesting to see where people will shake out on each issue. How many are in lockstep with one political party and how many have their own views on seperate issues.

Not embracing the most extreme position of either side of the issue.

Not falling completely on one side or other side of the issue.

Might embrace part of the liberal and part of the conservative points.

Or might have your own non-extreme solution that isn't covered by either side.

It might help to refer to the definitions in the link to get an idea of where you fall if you're not sure.

I disagree. There are some people who would like our politics to be black and white, but I hope to god they never are. There SHOULD be 35892 different answers and not just one left and one right answer that everyone is forced to pick.

And yeah, I support affirmative action. But not racism.
