According to your link, there was a $1.1 contract at stake that your mayor considered not honoring. That's a lot of money.
And yes essentially road teams do have to pay for the majority of their traveling expenses.
And if people went to a bar in AZ, what would that have anything to do with a boycott in Boston?
But this is all a moot point. The Arizona Diamondbacks do not constitute as a public contract or anything like it. Therefore, Boston, nor its councilmen or mayor, boycotted or planned to boycott them.
I checked and indeed the park is owned by the owner of the Red Sox. The city I'm sure would be in some type of violation to provide services, but even if they arent, blocking services would only harm the city and reduce revenues in the city.. They would only be harming themself which is why they dont put their money where their mouth is and truly boycott AZ..
That's the whole point of the thread- they will not truly boycott AZ....but it looks pretty in the headlines to them to see themselves talking about it
The thing is, pgh, they never claimed they were going to boycott Arizona. The councilmembers and mayor claimed they were considering boycotting AZ public contracts and utilities.

Really? what's the capacity of Fenway again? An avid baseball fan living on the East Coast in the Brazilian Capital of the USA should know

I mean seriously, if your going to boycott, then you boycott EVERYTHING from the state, you dont get to pick and choose based upon the benefit to oneself. The idea behind a boycott is your going to sacrifice such luxuries from what it is you are boycotting. Otherwise, its not a boycott, its just mouth service..
The boycott was stupid, so its only common sense to be called out for the hypocracy of not supporting your own boycott..

37K is a max capacity crowd. To avoid looking like a complete jackass going forward you shouldn't post when you have no idea what you're talking about.
If Boston is boycotting AZ why was their team allowed to play in Boston?
Since your location is MA I thought you would realize that Fenway Park is not in Arizona.
pgh, your links even stated it was a contractual boycott along with various city investments in the state. It has nothing to do with a baseball franchise. And if the city were to boycott it to the extent they wouldn't watch a private baseball club from Arizona when they were in town, it would hurt Boston fiscally worse than it would hurt Arizona.
Do you really think Bostonians are that stupid?
And they know boycott of private sectors hurts business. I don't know why you'd knock a baseball franchise for a law that has nothing to do with baseball. The private sectors (whether they agree with the law or not) has very little to do with the law. Boston is boycotting public firms and contracts with the state which in turn would effect the lawmakers and politicians of the state responsible for the law, not the innocent victims.
Why is this such a hard concept to figure out?

Fail- not even a good try
