That's not true at all. I'm not a robot, and I'm not going to like every single thing the man says and does. But don't act like he's loving this oil spill because he gets to go on and on about cap and trade. Liberals were actually disappointed that he didn't take the opportunity to discuss getting a bill passed.

Why don't you argue with people here based on what they say, and not on what you assume?

Very frightening. Before he even mentioned the oil, in the third sentence of his Oval office speech:

"Abroad, our brave men and women in uniform are taking the fight to al Qaeda wherever it exists."

It's as if the past 8 years never even happened, and he's appealing to exactly the same constituency that Bush appealed to right after 9/11, with the same rhetoric. I hope somebody told him there are no WMDs.

Well, that's kind of hard to do, since most of his supporters chime in with deflection and off topic stuff - very rarely do they address the topic of the thread.

How many have addressed his pathetic speech?

He and the environmentalists are loving the thought that finally, maybe, they can do away with off shore drilling once and for all - but that will backfire as well. The longer he keeps the moratorium in place, the more destruction he causes with the economy, the more people will take notice.

Remember, never let a crisis, manufactured or real, go to waste. That is their motto.

But obviously, the people are not buying his BS so much anymore and the idea of a new energy tax that will cost jobs and business a boatload of money, is not one the lilly-livered democrats in congress are anxious to take up.

Barack Obama's first address from the Oval Office delivered 32.1 million viewers Tuesday evening. The speech ranks as the president's second least-watched major cross-network primetime event.

The audience is down 33% from Obama's first State of the Union address in January and down 21% from his last primetime speech announcing a strategy for U.S. involvement in Afghanistan last December.
People are tired of hearing him drone on and on with the same tired old strawmen, cliches and rhetoric.

Can we say now for certain that the WH staffers and obama are completely tone deaf? They are mostly young, inexperienced, immature ideologues (exactly like their boss) who have no idea what they are doing. Imagine coming out with a speech like that, at this late date in the crisis.

Obama Oil Spill Speech Reax: Epic Fail

Carter redux, on steroids. Anybody taken a look at Carter's "malaise" speech and this one?

Obama's Oil Spill Speech: What Was The Point?

Yes, we'd all like to see that happen, at least the first two. Reiterating his desires did absolutely nothing to tell the American people what his PLAN is to contain and clean up the oil. And the reason is - HE DOESN'T HAVE A PLAN, after 60 days, no plan.

Obama's Oil Spill Speech: Running On Empty | Mother Jones

Damn, how many times are his speechwriters going to regurgitate the same tired old cliches, platitudes and history lessons?

Pablum is a great description of what his speeches have been reduced to. I think it's about time beer-pong Tommy Vietor be replaced with a grown-up.

Hot Air » Video: Estimates of flow rate in Gulf continue to escalate

Do watch the CNN video, where even David Gergen has a hard time stomaching the rhetoric.

And one of the gentlemen with Cooper asks a really great question at the end.

"Alternative energy makes up only 3% of all the energy in this country.

No nukes, no oil, no transmission lines for wind and solar, what is it exactly
we're going to do to get up to alternative energy where it can CARRY this country's energy needs."

He's right - nobody ever asks the president that question.

These two local officials are really on point and focused on the issues.
sanrene !!! Agreed !

Perhaps many millions of Americans were hoping for something sustantial and encouraging from "The One's" speech today ... and after all has been said and done by our young man in the WH there seemingly remains the same old gross disappointments and unbelievable amateurish solutions to the many "Horrendous Problems" facing this nation !

Yes friends ... Sadly it appears to be practically all about politics as usual and very little about actual problem solving !

It's hardly any wonder that some Americans may be losing confidence in the current " WH Crew " !

Who on earth would have ever dreamed that America would be currently experiencing such an acute "embarrassment" regarding HO and company !

All that idiotic blabbering by the "DINO's" about "Hope & Change this time around has really revealed itself to truly be the biggest "Load Of Crap" every forced on the American People !

Perhaps the American People will do the right thing in 2012 and make the big change at the voting booth ! thanks / Old Sgt. Lamar

Pray tell...what sterling and beyond reproach wonderful candidate of integrity and brilliance will the right bring forth? You are embarassed by Obama...Wow, how utterly deflated and ashamed you must have been by his predecessor. I'll just bet that you have posts here on CD that reflect that.

Are you suggesting that people are trying to capitalize on this? If so, please register that opinion now.

Anyway, the moratorium is causing our economy trouble? Oh really? What about the inability to fish in the Gulf right now? Did you know that 25% of the world's shrimp comes from the Gulf? What is THAT costing the economy? And Lousiana's lost tax revenue?

What is your strategy suggestion? What should be done differently?

Because I saw nothing but politics in this post.

He shrunk about 2 feet on camera. Even John Stewart was ridiculing him. He needs to quit dithering about unrelated issues and focus on the problem at hand. Or he needs to just resign and quit wasting our time.

THIS! What bothers me so much about the tea party crowd is that they never said this stuff during Bush. Bush increased spending, and what the Tea Party says now is that Bush was a liberal and so he doesn't count... yet there was no Tea Party till a Black Democrat was in office!!!

Face it, Republicans had the government in their hands from 03-07, and they increased spending. They didn't do any of the conservative things they said they would. Yet there was no tea party till a black democrat was president.

hmm..... Maybe that's why they're now seen as disingenuous.
