Because it's humbling America so we don't come across as the egotistical country that we are.
Everything is now "global" and we better get on the bandwagon and play by the rules.
We are beholden to other countries to finance our debt which keeps us going day to day (at least from April to Oct). We are the ones that have to grovel to other countries to ask them to continue giving us money.
This is the new America..we are not top dog in the sandbox anymore.
The need to finance debt will no longer be an issue when we stop spending more money than we actually have. Once that is resolved, they can try to take what we owe them out of our collective backsides. They can try to find someone else to buy their cheap crap too. Can you say food riot?

That's not completely fair. It isn't the illegals' fault that Americans have become used to cheap fruits and vegetables, and take advantage of low-priced workers from Mexico.
There is plenty of blame all around for the situation we find ourselves in. Most of it can be laid at the feet of cowardly politicians of both parties (and in both countries).
Why don't all the States get together and sue the Federal Government for not enforcing it own laws? Too simple? I don't know what it could accomplish.
Well more than half of the people in this country voted for a man whose closest living relative is living here illegally in a government paid project housing .
