Obama tells G-20 nations to seal economic recovery - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100618/ap_on_bi_ge/us_obama_g20_summit - broken link)

The G20 has decided to go the austerity route to conquer debt.
China is not going to manipulate their currency for the US.

Obama sent them a letter about continued deficit spending to promote a self-sustaining recovery. Well..deficit spending is not self-sustaining.

The US is not quite ready to jump on the austerity bandwagon just yet..I guess we're having too much fun spending ?

Good luck Mr. President in convincing the G20 that we can indeed spend our way to recovery.

Germany has put their foot down. Too many of the European nations are in trouble..big trouble and more money will not help them. They HAVE to slash budgets to get themselves in line with their revenue. Germany feels the austerity measures are not enough to bring down their deficits in line with their budgets. And the Germans are a stubborn people; in this case I agree with them.

Krugman seems to think we can avoid worse conditions if we do deficit spend. That's the opinion I got from reading his article. Does he think we can escape paying the piper by continuing to spend money we don't have ?

Someone needs to stand up and declare a global depression..lay it out on the table and then set in motion steps to really recover and not just live in this fantasy world of "spend your way to riches" with other people's money.

Meaning what exactly? He's telling them to keep spending, and they are giving him the finger.

Little Timmy has been to Europe and China several times now. I guess he couldn't convince them to keep those wallets opened.

And Uncle Ben says that what Europe does "won't effect the US" recovery...yeah right.
