Congress appropriates spending and the ten trillion dollar public debt is the monkey on its back, not the Federal Reserve's.

the deficit are necessary in the semi-private central bank FIAT money system. All money in a paper money system is debt, and needs more and more debt. You would need a gold and silver standard to have no national debt. or for a start a nationalized federal reserve to print your own money and pay off the national debt.

They must have liked the sound of 'Federal Reserve". I think I agree with you...but then my question is - why wasn't it repealed AFTER the fact? And most importantly WHY DID THE FERERAL RESERVE SURVIVE THE GREAT DEPRESSION?? The politicians and voters should have certainly known by then that the FED is very bad. The FED was officially created to prevent things like the Panic of 1907 and then the FED caused the Great Depression. And the FED got away with this? The gold standard and free markets were blamed!

Is there any excuse for this for the politicians? Is there any excuse for the people who voted for these politicians and continue to vote for them? No.

I agree with you.....with a caveat.....the deficit is getting so incredible huge...that massive inflation will kick in the near to mid future. Then what are they gonna do? All out wars and all out police state? Maybe. But aside from that...the Federal Reserve and the spendthrift Congress will SELF-DESTRUCT !!

Something else...many people think that you need to have the Federal Reserve to keep their money safe in the banks. This is not the case. You just need something like the FDIC. The FED is to keep the banksters safe. The FDIC is to keep your money "safe".(no fiat dollars are really safe if your country is bankrupt)
