Biden in Surprise Visit to Iraq Over Fourth of July Weekend

Can you believe this !! The VP & his WIFE went to Iraq to VISIT ! Isn't this a nation at war? WHY would he bring along his wife ? And, first of all, why is he going there on a Holiday weekend ? Is he going to make things better over there? OR is it just Party Time at the Palace ? PLUS, he's greeted by 3 Senators that are already there "ON AN UNRELATED TRIP". I guess that they got to the party a little bit early !! What a waste of taxpayers money !! Also, plus, "it was Biden's fourth trip to Iraq". I'd like to know what he accomplished on his first 3 trips there that he needed to make another one while accompanied by his wife?? The USA is ,totally, falling apart at the seams, the American people are out of work, starving, losing their homes & suffering medically BUT our Reps are flying all over the world for WHO KNOWS WHAT ! Well, I guess that when all our other Reps can go on vacation and not care about their people (by not extending UI benefits) then the rest of them can party also. The US government is totally out of control & something needs to be done quickly !! I don't know what will help but someone better figure this out before the people will have stood for enough and start taking some type of action into their own hands !!!!!!

The article implies it was official business. I don't see how you're upset over this. There's far more waste of money to be worried about.

Official business ???? That's what they love about SHEEP, they agree to be led to slaughter !!! IF it WAS official business then why was he accompanied by his wife ??. Oh ! next you going to say that he paid for her expenses to go on the trip. I agree with you that "there's far more waste to be worried about" but we have to start cutting somewhere because a hundred little wasteful things add up after a while. I'm sure you"ll agree with that !

I apologize if I posted this in the wrong forum but I was so amazed at the article that I , mistakenly , posted it at the site that I usually read daily. Thank you for your direction , I will try to be more careful the next time I get annoyed.

You are saying that a visit from a vice president on 4th of July---who is part of the civilian leadership of the military---is a waste of money. Unreal! Funny how Republicans cheered every visit to the troops that Bush made but when the current administration does it, it's a waste of money. As for him taking his wife, big deal. He's working on a holiday weekend and on his off time he has his wife there. What a crime against society! NOT.

I assume that the visit is to boost the troops' morale for the July 4th holiday.
As for the VP taking his wife, I don't think the added expense is so great for taking an extra person on a private jet. In any case, do you really expect the VP to spend the holiday without his wife?!

It's a business trip. It's not a holiday until The Price is Right starts shouting "You've won a romantic weekend to the Casino Trump on the beautiful Fallujah Riviera!"

Where did I state that any crime was taking place ?? I only stated, my opinion, that I think the trip is a waste of money in these tough times.
I don't care who cheered when Bush visited there, I was talking about this VP and his trip.

How does a visit from the VP boost the troop's morale when they know it's all a political show and the VP will be going home while they stay there for who knows how long. Why couldn't the first 3 politicians (that were already there) boost their morale ??? What makes the VP and his wife so up-lifting for our troops ???? BRING all the young men home where they belong !!!!
