Just today I got this e-mail from a friend and checked it out with Snopes for veracity and found it to be completely true. Here is what Snopes says about the story. I can't believe DEVOUT Muslims have been appointed to these positions. Weren't those 19 people on 9/11 devout Muslims? Golly Snopes calls this problem something to do with religion!!!

It would be so much better if xians behaved as xians the way Jesus would have, than to say that they are xian and behave hatefully.

There is no reference in the Snopes article to the men proclaiming themselves to be devout. Maybe you can help us out, ans snip the line and show it to us.
Most Muslims are not particularly devout. When I lived in Jordan, I knew very few Muslims who actually prayed at the specified call five times a day. A majority of people didn't even observe the fast during Ramadan, but they tried not to break it conspicuously. In Indonesia, very few of the Muslim majority observe any but the most fundamental practices of Islam. Yet, they all, if asked, would call themselves Muslims. They were far from devout.
I did admit that the word devout appeared in a quote from Der Spiegel and even said that we can't trust those Germans not to stretch truth now and then. Jordan and Indonesia are surely a couple where you could get good examples, especially Jordan. Yep, I guess two nations, since one is the largest Muslim single population in the world, would take care of al the rest. Do they govern with Sharia in those two nations? I ask because I don't know but you should since you know so much about them.
