Quote:
Somewhere in the middle Clinton cleared his throat and gave a brief speech. The room finally went silent; everyone crowded around.

He thanked them. He praised them. Then, according to the players and officials, he delivered signature lines.

“As someone who cares about our country,” he said, “you made me proud to be an American.”

“Surreal,” Jonathan Bronstein said with a shake of his head. “Just surreal. The former President is telling us we made him proud to be American?”

What a great finish!

That's all I have to say. First time since 1930 that we won our group. It may not have been pretty, it might have been filled with controversy, but wow, it felt so good when Donovon scored that goal. Nothing else that preceded it mattered.

Good luck U.S. vs Ghana on Saturday.

I didn't think the US played very strong offensively throughout the game... they were on the defense most of the time and luckily played a very good defense... Algeria was constantly on the attack and had better teamwork with moving the ball around, not sure why Algeria was wasting time passing the ball around so early in the game as they needed a big win with lots of goals to advance... but a win is a win... I think they will win big against Ghana... Slovenia must be kicking themselves for losing to England... they had short clips of Clinton in the stadium, looks like he enjoyed the game...

Any support is good support. Bandwagon or not. I just can't tell you how proud I am of our boys. We won the group that included 2 European teams. They just don't give spots away to teams from Europe. So what was your point SLCPUNK? That a dem jumped the bandwagon? Who cares? Bet you can't name 3 players on OUR team can you? But by all means, call out a dem for jumping a bandwagon. Whatever... GO USA!!!

Clinton will do just about anything to get some publicity and his face on the TV screen. Back to the game, was borning, but got exciting in the end. This would have been a devestating lost for the US, luckily it wasn't.

I bet this will just reinforce what Glenn Beck said recently about soccer being a socialist, left-wing sport.
