Environmental Regulations for NORWEGIAN Offshore Oil & Gas Industry

Norway has a very strong regulatory framework in place, which is supported by a proactive industry. It blends environmental regulations and discharge permits with an emission tax, as well as open dialogue with industry. The Ministry of Industry andEnergy initiated an innovative and strategic consultative forum (MILJØSOK) and the oil industry association has been an active contributor to this forum. The association also supports operators with environmental reporting guidance. Overall the industry is in the international forefront regarding cost efficiency and environmentally friendly exploration and production operations.

Doesn't matter if there was regulation or not... the oil disaster was a company trying to cut corners with a faulty shut-off valve... if companies were cutting corners in Norway, the result would of been the same... Norway isn't doing anything "more" than the US... so your logic is flawed... that's like saying McDonalds is more regulated than Burger King, hence their toys from China are safer... not... it would happen anywhere, unfortunately it happened here... the only way to stop it is to make the penalties so bad, nobody would dare cut corners... I am still awaiting Obama to change the penalties but I won't hold my breath... doesn't matter if there is or is not regulation, if the penalties don't make a significant bite... you can always "bribe" a regulation...

Are you kidding me? We had the regulatory agency literally in bed with theoil companies and corrupt politicians calling for less regulation of industry and you are saying that we had the same regualtions in place. Too ridiculous to even address your post any further.
