Looks like someone didn't see that gun rights appear as a sibling to the right of free speech. Also, keep in mind that several countries in Europe allow for the legal ownership of firearms, and not just Switzerland.

Well counter argument was that the constitution also says that States can write thier own laws, so shouldn't Illinois then be able to write laws regarding firearms.

4 voted against the Constitution.

Make you sit up and pay attention.

I seriously want to know the basis for their vote, against the US Constitution?
Are they puppets for the President?

Something is seriously going wrong here. There are too many clueless Americans willing to fall for this BS.

There is a reason, we have not been attacked by a military force on our soil. Japan was fearful of an invasion on the lower 48.

I think you should go back and read it again.....

"FOR A WELL ARMED MILITIA..." that's the premise of the right. States were given the right to form militias, as they had done since the days of Winthrop. Militias by definition are a set of militarized citizens, except today we have a professional army. Militia's aren't needed, therefore the right is archaric.

"the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

There are only one type of people in America...Americans. I would like to see the amendment that bans militias or renders them unnecessary.

and Chicagoans with hand guns are the reason? Hey lets give everyone in Alaska a bazooka to stop Russia, Ak-47s to stop those Arabs, and Texans [well they already have weaponry] to stop Mexicans.

I don't think you know what you're talking about.
