I recently re-read
Paper Money (1981) by "Adam Smith" (economist George Goodwin) and was struck by how we fell into this current economic fiasco in the 1970s "energy crisis" when ownership of the power in the world began to change, and how we've only been maneuvering to keep our heads above water (have managed mostly, with a few duck-unders) since then. No new solutions because there are none. The whole world, not just the US.
