After a decade of neglect, we are fortunate to have a President that acknowledges the duty were have to Veterans. We had a President very willing to put them into harms way, now we have a President trying to get them out and deal with the damages caused.

It'll be much easier to extract money from the private hospital for damages. The government can give patients a big f-u with no accountability.

Once again, you make a false assertion.

St. Louis VA Medical Center dental infections: Nearly 2,000 at risk | ksdk.com | St. Louis, MO

Dr. Gina Michael is the association chief of staff at the hospital, and says the failure happened because some dental technicians thought they were doing the right thing by washing the dental tools themselves.

Dr. Michael says the techs were using a sink and strong soap to clean the tools, when they should have sent them to the hospital sanitizing and sterilizing department.

The techs, says Dr. Michael, were trying to protect the delicate instruments by doing the cleaning by hand, but instead, they were breaking protocol.

Even though the dental instruments were washed by hand, they were still sterilized by machine. The hospital uses high heat and pressure to sterilize instruments, which kills most germs. However, some viruses can withstand the heat, that's why they are washed in special machines.

Since it is a government facility, the responsible parties were probably promoted out of their present job classification.

This is the hosipital http://www.stlouis.va.gov/

I suppose the word VA hosiptal didnt work for you and I guess saying it was run by the government would dam the general process of how government does things. Funded or not funded. The media is not in the business of blaming anyone it is reporting news which is for once what this article did.
Now you have to ask the question how in the hell can this happen.
VA hospitials are the example of government run medical care of which alot of people want to turn over our healthcare system too.

I'm sure the vets are thankful for the medical care they receive but lets also keep in mind the failures of it and it appears they have a hard time following RULES on cleaning tools!

Being in an underfunded hospital, private or government, is what get you this. I wonder if anyone was actually infected by these instruments?
