I think pommysmommy is onto something. Obama appointed McChrystal in May 2009, a mere 4 months into his Presidency. Considering that Obama had zero experience in foreign affairs and war-time strategy, he would have entirely leaned on experienced government players for insight to make his selection.

So, yes, incompetence and inexperience is exactly why he appointed McChrystal without an interview.

What else did you expect from this idiot?

Then it took him a year to even talk the commander on the ground in the middle of a war. How nice of him to be in control.

Remember he said he would be in contact with the experts on the ground when asked about the wars during the campaign. Well, that did not go well either.

Everything the man touches he screws up.

Give bubba back his binky and send him back to Chicago to be retrained.

The mistake a day Presidunce is in way over his head and we all know it.

Don’t misunderestimate the power of aversion. (yea I really said misunderestimate).

Where Obammer is concerned there is a visceral aversion to all things military. It is in his liberal DNA. He was trained up that way by his socalists mommy and his commie teachers that he loves so much.

Obammer has the same aversion to being in a room with military men that I have to being in a room full of fat ugly nekked people with puss filled oozing open sores. Interviewing a general would require extended contact.

Total Incompetence, and such a lack of knowledge and experience on his side. Doesn't have any, does he!

I think that to say that McChrystal's appointment was the result of incompetence actually says that McChrystal was incompetent. Doesn't it? I mean, if McChrystal is a competent and effective leader of military troops, then he's not a bad choice. It's not like there haven't been disagreements between Presidents and generals in the past about how to get a job done. It's not like generals in the past haven't aired those disagreements publicly. Was Lincoln incompetent because as the war progressed he changed out generals?

Because his pride backed him into a corner and he had no choice, he had already bad mouthed Gen Petraeus.
"Pride goeth before destruction", we better all watch out, he is our leader.
Retching...
