Just because he isn't super hard line conservative on 100% of the issues, does not mean he does not have an overall conservative voting record. He has a lifetime 89.68 rating from the ACU.

You think so?

Weird.

That must be why you have such a small tent in the Republican party.

Althouse: 51% of Tea Partiers are either Independent or Democrat — according to Gallup.

I think Quinnapiac was where that statistic was found.

A Quinnipiac poll:
74 percent are Republicans or independent voters leaning Republican;
16 percent are Democrats or independent voters leaning Democratic;
5 percent are solidly independent;
45 percent are men;
55 percent are women;
88 percent are white;
77 percent voted for Sen. John McCain in 2008;
15 percent voted for President Barack Obama

You must really be confused if you think cap and tax and amnesty legislation are in line with conservative values.
Sounds like the tea partiers have a better handle on things than you do.

Of course missing the point completely, not a shock. Is Graham a hard line conservative, that is 100% far right on every issue a la Demint or Inhofe?? No. Does he break with his party and the far right from time to time?? Yes. Is his overall record fairly conservative?? Well you don't get a rating from the ACU of around 90 if it isn't.

In the end that is what is going to kill the tea party, that you need to be FAR FAR ULTRA RIGHT in every single issue. Vote the conservative line 90% of the time, still not good enough for those wing nuts.

Tea Party Supporters Overlap Republican Base
Eight out of 10 Tea Party supporters are Republicans
by Frank Newport
PRINCETON, NJ -- There is significant overlap between Americans who identify as supporters of the Tea Party movement and those who identify as conservative Republicans. Their similar ideological makeup and views suggest that the Tea Party movement is more a rebranding of core Republicanism than a new or distinct entity on the American political scene.
62% Conservative Republican
17% Moderate/ liberal Republican
6% Pure Independent
5% Conservative Democrat
6% Moderate Democrat
3% liberal Democrat

Sorry if you think someone can be for these huge economy crippling legislation pieces and be labled a conservative, you are sadly mistaken.

It's called selling out and the rest of his record becomes moot.

Look at his voting record, it sure as hell isn't liberal. He sure as hell doesn't cross party lines as much as Snowe and Collins, or Brown and Voinovich. Just because he doesn't bow down and kiss the feet of big oil and big energy every single time he can possibly to do so does not mean he isn't conservative. He perhaps is not hard right, but he is still conservative and his voting record shows that.
