so, tonight, i went to a concert. on the back of each ticket, it says that professional photography would result in being kicked out and no refund, etc. etc.
well, i have a D90 (not really a professional cam and i'm NOT a professional phtographer). i was asked by a few workers to show them my pictures...i refused. they called in two cops (looked like cops...not like rent a cops without guns...they looked like real cops with real guns and badges). he asked me to go outside with him. (meantime, as the cop was being called, i opened my mem stick door, took it out quickly, passed it on to a friend and boom, done, no mem stick).
he said let me see your photos. i said why?! he said you're not supposed to take pictures. i said i wasn't. i was just using the camera as binoculars (lol), look, i don't even have a memory stick. so he says: let me see the camera. and i show him that there aren't any pix. he says give me the camera, and i did but held on to the strap. he said let go, and i said no, i don't want you to drop it. at this point, the other cop started being aggressive with me and said no, let it go, he won't break it...etc. and i didn't want to get into anything with the cops so i did. then, after a few minutes, he comes back, gives me back my cam and asks me if i have the memory stick in my pocket. i said no. he said let me see. so i showed him my pockets....he at one point touched one of my pockets himself.

i wanted to ask you guys whether this is legal or not. i think it is NOT legal for him to search me or even ask me to show him my pics without a warrant. the most they can do is kick me off. right?

Your in a private venue and that changes everything really.Buying a ticket means more than you think on consent really. You could be sued in many such cases really ;so keep any photos to yourself.

I think you would be allowed to bring a sketch artist with you.

The corporatists fear high tech in the hands of the public, more so than guns.

Since i'm a Rail Fan this happens a few times a year to me , but since i'm in Public areas , its legal to. But Lack of Communication between agencies is what really causes the problems. In the end its your Camera and you have the right to take pictures expect in a few GOVT areas. They had no right to do that. You should sue them.

When you purchased your tickets, you agreed to give up certain "civil rights." Its just like buying a plane ticket. You have NO RIGHT to fly, however, if you do, you, your luggage, etc are open too be searched, etc.

When you bought that ticket again, you signed away your right to unreasonable search and seizure. Don't like it? Don't buy a ticket to that venue. Simple as that. The public's right to protection, out weighs your rights.
