Fleeting? Byrd joined the KKK in 1942 and was a leader of his chapter. He wrote a letter praising the KKK in 1947 and defended the Klan in his Senate run in 1958. He voted against Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas and he filibustered the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
But, beyond the mis-characterization, what does this statement say about Clinton's opinion of Southern voters?

Lets see, bush was our just our last president, for 8 years, and Clinton was before Bush so its more appropriate to talk about what obama was left instead of what Clinton is doing now which isn't a whole lot of your business.
