Mexicans are "homeless"? That poem was written long ago when we were a wide open frontier with plenty of resources and space. The same isn't true today and all countries including ours have immigration laws now. The poem no longer applies in today's world.

We are no longer in to taking care of the poor and homeless in this country, why would we want the poor and homeless of other countries.
We are not a welfare state. Although it appears to be. At some point we have to say enough is enough and limit and control immigration. We cannot afford it economically and we do not have the natural resources to support the population growth.
