Is he doing this on purpose, due to the fact these are Red states, with Red governors, with voters that vote Red? I believe he is.

Yes, he is doing it on purpose, as instructed by his mosque in Kenya.

According to the local officials, no one is really in charge of the coordination of containment and clean up.

That would be this president's responsibility, but since he's never done anything like it in his life, we can understand why he's not very good at it.
Apparently, there is a law concerning this which was enacted before Obama became president.

Foreign companies possessing some of the world’s most advanced oil skimming ships say they are being kept out of efforts to clean up the oil spill in the Gulf because of a 1920’s law known as the Jones Act -- a protectionist law that requires vessels working in US waters be built in the US and be crewed by US workers.

Karma catches up with US

The bells toll loudly, and they toll for us. In this specific case, the US Administration has been exposed as having virtually no checks and controls over corporate greed that could have prevented this hideous tragedy. World over we are familiar with the phenomenon of crony capitalism; hence such a tragedy could play out in any part of the world. In BP’s case, over 50 per cent of the oil and gas extracted from the Gulf went to the US and the UK global war machines, giving them a powerful reason to go along with company shortcuts and to try to underplay the extent of the devastation until public anger made that unviable.

Not a cleanup crew in sight.

The administration has had OVER 70 days to coordinate and prepare for the oil making it's way to shore.

Is he doing this on purpose, due to the fact these are Red states, with Red governors, with voters that vote Red? I believe he is.
The Bush Administration had eight years, six of those with an unimpeachable republican majority, to regulate the oil industry and require that check valves be installed inline on oil rigs that would all but eliminate the possibility of such a spill as this one happening.

Wonder why they didn't?

Federal officials say cleaning up the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has already cost the government $87 million, making it the third-most expensive cleanup effort in the nation's history.

Congressional Democrats and the White House are toying with different ways to force BP to cover the costs of damages from the Gulf oil spill. But they face stiff opposition from industry...and it seems leading Republicans. In response to a question from TPMDC, House Minority Leader John Boehner said he believes taxpayers should help pick up the tab for the clean up.

Somehow I doubt it.

Of course I can. But I really cannot criticize Obama when the GOP has not only destroyed regulation that would have prevented this accident but now acts as an obstructionist to every piece of legislation put forward by Democrats, and never do they have anything to offer in return.

If one had to clean up their own messes before complaining about others then everyone in the GOP would be silent.

Of course, their end goal is to prevent Obama from being successful, and trying to spread the blame (and failure) around like the oil slick moving throughout the Gulf region

Obama has been in power for how long now?

The Dems have been in control of Congress for how long now?

And remember, from the VERY first day,the fedgov. has been in control of the oil spill....or so they have stated.

Try and stay on topic, if you can.

Can we just imagine the response from the left if a non-democrat was in charge?

It really is breathtaking to behold, the virtual silence from the Left on the ineptitude from this democratic administration.

Who knew their integrity and honesty swung with which party was in office?
It's literally impossible to stop all oil from reaching shores with a spill of this magnitude. The government was slow to respond, but it has nwo already thrown tens of thousands of people, thousands of boats, and just about everything else into the effort; they'll get there and clean it up. If you want it done even faster, I suggest that the states mobilize more people - like maybe Jindal finally authorizing the use of those thousands of other national guard members in his state who are sitting idly by. Or maybe you could go out and get involved yourself.
