You guys are missing an obvious angle on the tanning tax: it is a tax on white people.

(tongue in cheek--just trying to stir things up)

I understand what you are getting at, but you have the wrong example.

The federal governme is charged with providing for military defense, and hence it's in the budget.

it is NOT charged with providing healthcare, and this tax is to help fund healthcare.

I don't believe in cigarette or tanning taxes. These vices should be tax free to facilitate culling the herd of the stupidest members.

So we should cut the area that keep us safe? And this makes sense to you? How about cutting the fraud in welfare, food stamps, Medicare? Or how about cutting what we pay Senators?

As for the tax. The only reason it was removed from Botox and placed on tanning is because the doctors and Big Pharma were all over the governments back. So Obama backed down and picked tanning. I fail to see how getting food poisoning injected in your face is either needed or good for you.

Right now the biggest killer in society is obesity, not smoking or tanning.

This is yet another way this administration is killing the economy and stomping all over small businesses.

BS! They are blaming slow business on the 10% tax (or a few cents/session)

They truth is that people are not spending like they once did and the tanning industry loses more and more customers as studies that link their business to skin cancer become bigger news.
