i must have gotten yours in my mail....
I got 2 forms, several letters and several people knocking on my door.
This state they insisted with counting all college students - even if they did have a "home" state as they determined the students were technically residents...
although i agree with the basic concept of the census, i have found this years census to be a manipulative joke.
Thank God I live in the middle of no where. We got 1 it never got returned and I don't care. Ain't got any phone calls nor has anyone stopped by. If they did they would quickly informed they are trespassing and to get off my property as we have a locked gate on our front porch and that constitutes breaking and entering.
It sounds like typical bureaucratic bungling. It's what the government does best.
I fail to understand the need for a census in the modern world. Almost everyone has a social security number and all births and deaths are recorded. If there is anyone living, or dying outside the system then the census won't magically find them. It just seems like a monumental waste of money and resources to me when there are clearly far more efficient and accurate ways to count heads these days.

Only two forms? I got my first form in April, which I filled out and sent in. Then another 2 forms in the mail in May, and 3 more forms taped on my front door on different days while I was at work, apparently by a Census worker.
The first form that was taped to my front door had the name and phone number of the Census worker. When I called her she wanted to take my information again over the phone. I told her that I had already completed the form and sent it in back in April. She didn't believe me, so I hung up. Two days after that phone call another form was taped to my door, a week after that another form. Needless to say, I did not fill out any more forms beyond the first one I sent back to the Census in April.
Before Congress fixed the number of House Representatives the Census made perfect sense. However, since the number of House Representatives are fixed the Census only serves to increase spending and voter districts which means less and less representation with each passing decade.
It also works against the taxpayer and in favor of government who has a vested interest to intentionally over-count the population. I have zero confidence in census numbers. I consider the census to be merely a pretense to manufacture any number they want to suit their political agenda. The Census has become a farce and no longer serves its intended purpose, which was the ensure that the people were adequately represented in the House of Representatives.
I agree, this Census is a joke. For now. It's what Obozo will do with the information that worries me.
The results will probably tabulate the country being 40% Latino, 20% Black, 10% Asian, 10% Other and 20% Caucasian. A shoe-in for the 2012 election, making ACORN a minor player this time.
ACORN will be a non-existant player because there is no ACORN anymore. Like, go to their website, it hasn't been updated in 3 months.

A three month old website is concrete proof they don't exist. Who knew?
ACORN, unfortunately, isn't gone. What has happened in many cases is that the office name has simply changed. Sometimes the office location even remained the same. Same phony organization, new name.

Exactly, but the problem with your idea is that is would be accurate.
FedGov doesn't want an accurate census, it wants to create a census.
