Of course the news has a liberal bias. Some have even acknowledged it. There was a commercial for "The Nation" (I believe that's the name) that advertised "packed full of the liberal bias you are used to”. Many have quit buying newspapers because of the left wing liberal bias.

To quote some locals at the neighborhood diner here "the only thing the liberal newpapers today are worth is if you need it for packing or you run out of toilet paper".

That is not logical. Nice try though. Actually not so much.

Go ahead and deny the fact that a few huge companies control most of the media in this country and a track demonstrates corporate bias over all else.

Corporate bias also falls into conservativeland.

But go ahead and do your thing.

It's kind of funny that people claim our media is so "liberal". Compared to Europe, even our democrats are right-wing. This country, as a whole, is very right-wing. It really skews perspective when it comes to things like judging media bias.

The media is a profit oriented industry. To reap the most profits the media must appeal to the masses; the lowest common denominator. "News" about Paris Hilton and/or sports will attract more people than investigative reporting about war, poverty, environment. etc. Happy news is what the public wants. News is also a form of entertainment, a pacifier, just like for a little baby.
Generally, America is a conservative society with little interest for any in-depth reporting of current events. Americans don't demand hard hitting journalism. On that point the media complies.
In recent times, the media dug under every rock for every little detail during the OJ Simpson trial and the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal. If any facts were manufactured and manipulated for the justification to invade Iraq found little interest among the media. No one wanted to ask tough questions or to research, or they were told to butt out. Not to mention that the general public doesn't want to be told things it doesn't want to hear.
Does anyone remember Couric taking the anchor at CBS? How many people were interested in the content of the news? Very few. Mostly, the reviews were about her performance, her hair style, and her attitude.
The media operates with too many taboos. Certain themes are not to be discussed, much less criticized. Doing so may anger sponsors, and risk the loss of revenue.
America's media is superficial and just another lowering step to the dumbing down of America.
If the media of 1972 had the attitude of today's media the Watergate break-in would never have been investigated.
The only somewhat credible media remaining is print, such as newspapers.

Don't you think that's a tad too simplistic of a view?

Often I get the impression that by using the label "liberal media" the conservatives are complaining that the media is reporting what is really going on, instead of the assuring opinion that everything is fine and under control.
Does anyone notice that the conservative media spends less time with issues, but use a lot of energy to go after anyone who criticizes official policies.
As for the scandal about the poor care veterans were receiving at Walter Reed Hospital, it was the liberal media (Washington Post) that brought the story to the public's attention. FoxNews was probably too busy digging up dirt on opponents of the Iraq War.
The conservative media only tells you what the Bush administration, corporate America, the Christian Right, and Israel want you to know.

Not only is the news reported with a liberal slant it is the news they refuse to even report!

Would you concede that there are more than just two categories out there, or is accuracy adequately served in your view by stuffing eveything there is into either the box marked Liberal or the box marked Conservative?

Well, since you want to pick a debate, why not?

I'm looking at the networks as a whole. I'm not breaking them down to the Orielly Factor, or Larry King Live. I'm saying the networks, as a whole, broadcast their news with a slant. Be it conservative or liberal, all three networks have an agenda.

Now are you saying you don't agree with my analysis of the three networks, or are you just really bored and need to argue?
