WASHINGTON — Too many Republican leaders are acquiescing to a poisonous "demagoguery" that threatens the party's long-term credibility, says a veteran GOP House member who was defeated in South Carolina's primary last month.

Death panels, racism among the teabaggers, birthers: Even conservative Republicans, to the extent that responsible Republicans even exist anymore, are starting to call out the brand of conservatism embodied by Sara Palin, Glenn Beck, and many of the conservatives here at CD.

Is responsible Republicanism doomed?

And is this good or bad for this country?

He was defeated which means the people of his district don't believe he can serve them anymore. Maybe the voters know best.

I heard this on NPR yesterday. It's good to know at least a few of the Repubs realize that constantly putting down Obama is not good politics.

Its ironic that you are against racism yet you refer to those who differ in opinion as teabaggers... you are the WORST "racists" there is... you deny racism but make derogatory remarks about another group (by the way, they are referred to as the Tea Party)... I refer to you as the Blind Racist.... the worst of the racists because you don't even know your own prejudice...

As for Republicans demagogue... yes, its sad and I wish it would change but it has as good a chance of changing as Democrat demagoguery.... ironic isn't it...

Really? It's racist to not like people you disagree with?

Thanks for the information.

The Republican Party is doomed because it has been taken over by far right Moral Majority lunatics that want to force their religious beliefs on everyone.

Sarah Palin comes to mind. That is why the Republicans chose her to run with McCain.............to molify the religious wackos that they pander to.........and it cost them the election.

And you want to force your non-religous beliefs on everyone. What is the difference?

"Teabagger" is a racist term? I thought the wonderful Tea Party was a rainbow of diversity?
