There are so many organizations that not only are a waste of taxpayer dollars but these are organizations that the taxpayers pay for yet receive NO BENEFIT from. In some cases they make the United States a more dangerous and less desirable place to live! The strategies used by the CIA for nation building is one example but there are others that affect Americans more directly.

My opinion is if we are going to be PAYING for these massive and expensive organizations they AT MINIMUM should be offering a service that benefits the public good and not exist just to serve BIG GOVERNMENT and BIG CORPORATIONS.

An obvious example of one of these PIGS is the Food and Drug Administration. People wrongly think that the FDA protects consumers which could not be further from the truth. It's main purpose is to protect and facilitate the business of BIG AGRA, BIG MEDICA, BIG PHARMA. It accomplishes this by partnering with BIG GOVERNMENT where drug companies' lobbyists pay off elected officials to ensure their products dangerous or not, make it to the marketplace.

The drug Avandia in the news now, which has been out since 2002 is the perfect example of how the FDA obviously must have just looked the other way when Glaxo Smith Kline introduced it. Today after 83,000 have suffered heart attacks from taking it and there are more than 13,000 lawsuits against the company, they are FINALLY considering taking it off the market.

If the FDA was really looking out for the consumer, the drug never would have made it to the market in the first place as probably hundreds if not thousands of other dangerous drugs that haven't made front page news yet.

Meanwhile the FDA forbids the companies manufacturing natural supplements to label the benefits of its use (because the drug companies see people discovering safe natural medicine as a threat to their future profits). Here is an example of a former diabetic who got rid of his diabetes after he began using natural medicine-- the EXACT THING the medical establishment is afraid of.
http://www.diabetesreversed.com/blog/reverse-diabetes/curing-diabetes-naturally/

Honestly, how useful and worthy of our tax dollars is an organization that has PROVEN time and time again (like with this Avandia example there are numerous others) it has little or no interest in really protecting the consumer and in fact it's pro business decisions turn out to HARM consumer/taxpayers---and not protect them in the least!?!

Other examples of government waste and a link to the "Citizens against Government Waste"

Organization -----------------Elected Official Supporting Wasting your Money
NASA ---------------------------- Sen Richard Shelby R. Alabama
CAGW Names Richard Shelby June Porker of the Month (http://www.cagw.org/newsroom/porker-of-the-month/2010/ - broken link)

Department of Agriculture: Projects include:
-$4,545,000 for wood utilization research in 11 states by 10 representatives, including Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska);
-$2,494,000 for climate forecasting in Florida by House Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee member Allen Boyd (D-Fla.) and Rep. Brad Miller (D-N.C.). ;
-$1,026,000 for potato pest and disease research by House Appropriations Committee Chairman David R. Obey (D-Wisc.),
-$793,000 for the Center for Innovative Food Technology in Toledo, Ohio by House Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee member Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio). One of the center’s publications is “The Sweet Life in Northwest Ohio,” a guide to chocolate, candy, and coffee retailers in the region. Federal handouts make anyone’s life a lot sweeter.
-$349,000 for swine and other animal waste management research at North Carolina State University by House appropriator David Price (D-N.C.) and Reps. G.K. Butterfield (D-N.C.), Bob Etheridge (D-N.C.), and Brad Miller (D-N.C.).

Is this outrageous or what? All of these could easily be funded by the private sector. Taxpayers shouldn't have top pay for this!

Homeland (In)Security-------Projects include:

$43 Miilion for 66 FEMA projects where our money is so well spent considering what an outstanding job they did in New Orleans during and after Hurricane Katrina and now with the BP oil gusher. We taxpayers sure are getting our money's worth there aren't we?
-$6,000,000 for three projects by House DHS Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman David Price (D-N.C.), for the University of North Carolina

State Governments are just as wasteful. Look at what Tennessee spent this year at tax payer expense:

$15,000,000 for an aquatics center in Kingsport;
$3,950,000 in excess fees collected by state professional regulatory boards;
$1,600,000 to fund insolvent state-owned golf courses;
$1,500,000 to help smokers kick the habit;
$510,000 for dog parks in Knoxville and Knox County; and
$450,481 for two art statues in downtown Nashville

Who is the KING OF PORK in Washington? He is none other than Senator Richard Byrd Democrat from W. Va . Look at the projects he has used taxpayers money on over the years that have cost them in the BILLIONS (with a B) dollars here: Byrd Droppings (http://www.cagw.org/newsroom/byrd-droppings.html - broken link)

Evidently the federal Government spends $58 Million dollars every 10 minutes in the average time it takes to take a shower! $8.8 Million

GET THIS: The Obama Administration has TURNED DOWN HELP OFFERED FROM EUROPEAN COUNTRIES OFFERING TO HELP CLEAN UP THE GULF due to a stupid law that probably is being misunderstood by the Obama administration anyway called the Jones Act that prohibits the use of foreign ships to transport passengers or cargo between United States Ports. CAGW Urges Obama to Waive Jones Act to Aid Spill Effort

Another Dumb plan by Obama to implement yet ANOTHER so called stimulous plan that we know do NOT work to spend $50 Billion MORE taxpayer dollars to prevent laying off police, firefighters and teachers. When is Obama going to stopp getting us deeper and deeper into debt spending money we don't have and can't afford to spend? Talk about being IRRESPONIBLE! CAGW Slams Obama

$3 Billion for an alternate engine for fighter planes that won't make them any better than the engines currently in them. CAGW Releases Issue Brief on JSF Alternate Engine

What a great website the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste's is Citizens Against Government Waste Homepage
I could go on and on listing many more examples they have listed. Of course one of the programs they were staunchly opposed to was Obamacare. Look at what they said about it:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who lacks the necessary votes, will attempt to pass a rule offered by House Rules Committee Chairwoman Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) to establish a scheme by which the Senate-passed health care bill would be deemed as passed by the House without an actual up-or-down vote. .......

.......“The so-called ‘Slaughter Solution’ is nothing more than a deceptive and dishonest procedural maneuver that will excuse members from putting their name on a monstrous piece of legislation that has been rejected by Americans nationwide. CCAGW cautions all members of Congress: a vote for the ‘Slaughter Solution’ is a vote for the Senate healthcare bill.

“Under the Senate-passed healthcare bill, Americans will be forced to shoulder the burden of new taxes, penalties and higher insurance premiums. Small businesses will be hindered by stringent regulations and taxes that will ultimately force them to slash jobs.

“Seniors will see their Medicare benefits significantly reduced, resulting in limited choices and higher costs. While Medicare will be cut, Medicaid will be expanded, despite the fact that the program is going broke and states are struggling to keep up with the expiring federal matching program. Imposing an unfunded mandate will only exacerbate Medicaid’s problems. ...... "

Doesn't all this spending of your money and of course the extremely honest and ethical manner the Obama Administration and Congress conducts themselves when pushing through their agenda just fill you with confidence in your elected officials?

Isn't it past time it STOPS??????? It is outright stealing. Why do we put up with it???

It is only just beginning. Aren't there more than 50 new fed. gov. bureaucracies being created under the HHS to implement and administer Obamacare?

This guy, Walter Burien, whose website is www.cafr1.com is the expert on how governments have gotten away with all the stealing from taxpayers. First of all, every town, city, county, state and the federal govt not only publishes a budget that is offered to the public and used for justification for higher taxes but what they DON'T tell us is that every government also publishes a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report every June orJuly that shows how the taxpayers dollars are being invested ----and the HUGE returns on investments have been made by governments.

In fact so much money has been squirreled away by governments and not disclosed to taxpayers, that not only is there NO justification for tax increases but that evidently so much money has accumulated over the years through deposits and compounded growth that all taxation could be done away with!

Watch a film clip of a documentary called "The Only Game in Town" that is now available that explains how government elites have been pulling wool over our eyes for decades (that I haven't seen but plan to watch this weekend).

Yes, it is absolutely sickening! One of them was supposed to be comparable in size to Homeland Security but for so called Food "Safety" which could have the power to make backyard vegetable gardening illegal unless you were doing it the "way the government told you was "safe" " including forcing you to use "safer" Hybridized (genetically engineered seeds from Monsanto Corporation) when we know genetically engineered food causes diseases.

They are already forcing farmers to do this now. It could make using organic seeds and even saving seeds from fruits and vegetables that produce seeds that can be planted and produce more fruits and veggies ILLEGAL --because then Monsanto couldn't count on their revenue stream of consumers buying seeds every year to plant their vegetable gardes (because they'd be getting them free from the fruits and vegetables themselves). Monsanto's answer was to reengineer the seeds so they'd only produce only one generation of plants and the seeds in those plants would not grow more plants thus forcing Americans to have to buy seeds year after year.

Our food that has genetically engineered ingredients is not labeled when it should be such as rBGH in milk. It is now common knowledge that rBGH is dangerous to dairy cows. It is also dangerous to humans. rBGH, animal and human risks - The Issues - Sustainable Table

We spend more on defense than the next 20 countries combined. Let us spend more than the next 10 combined and reduce it by 50% - there is big money there. But, govt is good in keeping all of us scared, and defense seems to be a bigger holy cow than anything else we have. Ron Paul and Barney Frank are co-proposing serious cuts:
Pressure Builds to Cut Defense Spending - Capital Journal - WSJ
The blog goes on to point out that Congress scoffs at such talk of reducing pork, while paradoxically, Sec. Gates is supporting this sensible approach.

I don't think a Federal Organization that doesn't waste taxpayer money and is actually necessary actually exists except in fictional reading material or in the minds of the loony left.
