Actually quite a bit of money has gotten shoveled into the Gulf Coast region to help with cleanup efforts.

If you really wanna blame the spill on someone may I suggest the BP Engineers, they seem to be the one's most responsible.

PMFJI, but if you were to abolish Fannie and Freddie, then how and by what process would you and the rest of us obtain a mortgage.

By going through the a bank? Why does the government need to get involved in the mortgage industry? Why should banks be able to dump off bad mortages for the government to take care of? They should be held responsible so they quit making risky mortgages and causing housing bubbles. I believe the standards to secure a mortgage should be much higher in this country; home ownership is not a right that the government has to help facilitate, it's a priviledge that you should have to earn. If we didn't have government bailing out bad loan making through fannie and freddie, we wouldn't be in a lot of this sh*t we are in right now.

If it makes one feel insecure to be an American, i would recommend giving up one's citizenship and moving to their country of choice.

I could care less if foreigners think poorly of Americans. I enjoy being here and having what it offers. Its the culture I have known my whole life and being told we're "crazy" or whatever nonsense you have been told is not about to make me tired of being an American. I highly enjoy it.

To most of the comments in here: there is a politics section on city data.

It's not racist to say minorities have to follow the same rules and procedures that everybody else has to, buddy.

This thread is the exact reason why I'm sometimes embarrassed to be American.
We're a bunch of hatin ass spoiled whiners.

Europe knows more about us than we know about them. They're way more open-minded as a whole.
