Almost all politicians are pawns of big money and bigger business. (Check my post in "corporate criminal" thread.) The money is global and so are the politics. The vast majority of the American people, both Republican and Democratic have been replaced by the few with really big bucks that can dump a billion or so on advertising and opposition groups and destroy anyone that challenges their privilege, world rule and economic domination.

Bill Clinton learned the hard way what it cost to be a Populist and passed on the message to Obama. With corporations now able to contribute (buy) campaigns the destructive policies will just become worse and the masses of the American, and world wide, working middle class will be submerged in debt and devastation.

Unions have spent more on campaigns then those evil corporations. So why arent you complaining about them trying to buy elections? Oh thats right they've already bought on that is currently in the White House

Unions have spent $9.7 million (or 39 percent of the total), compared with $6.4 million (26 percent) spent by individuals and $3.4 million spent by corporations.

You should read the whole link you posted,...

"Several large corporate-backed groups have yet to fully open their war chests for campaign ads. The conservative group American Crossroads raised $8.5 million in June, said its president, Steven Law.
"Donors who are from the center-right side of the spectrum are going to close the gap this year," he said. "There's both an opportunity in this election cycle to achieve real progress and a large sense of concern in the direction of Washington."

First, you might want to ask yourself what have the "workers" received from such Union contributions? More offshoring and loss of jobs ... so I'd say that is a total farce. And anyone should be smart enough to recognize how corrupt unions are, and how they are in the pocket of big business.

But aside those obvious observations, you're pointing to peanuts when talking campaign contributions ... the national coverage of candidates by the mainstream news is what makes or breaks political candidates, and not the corny baby kissing commercials and lawn signs And that coverage is dictated by the real monied interests who own mainstream network news just like they own everything else.

Furthermore, those who have been around the reins of power are long term participants ... connected through decades of corruption amongst themselves, and the revolving doors of industry and government.

Tell me, who do you think Cheney worked for ... the collection of idiots who may have contributed a couple of Million to his campaign, or Haliburton who paid that sucker 65 Million as a severance when he left as CEO and took office as VP?

Rumsfeld? Another insider who's wealth came from industry as he came in and out of government positions.

The congress is a gaggle of misfits who are as much controlled by all of the skeletons in their closets as they are campaign contributions ... and anyone of them can and will be disgraced and brought crashing down should they fail to follow their true masters.

The naive public has NO CLUE as to what these creeps represent ... crooks and perverts of the highest order ... that is a prerequisite for office ... Mr. Clean need not apply, because Mr. Clean cannot be controlled.

Campaign contributions. Ha! Those are the trimmings ... not the tree or the roots.
