Is this where we are heading?

From the link:

This video provides a disturbing glimpse of what the welfare state has in store for us. The dream of the statists did indeed rise. As sure as it has risen, it has fallen.

Most disturbing from this video are the prolific campaign posters. I’m sure you can imagine what political figure’s image is portrayed.

I'm really surprised that you link to a right wing REVO site.

Same-o, same-o.
Nothing new to see here folks.

I'm really not surprised to see this reply from a liberal. Can you debunk anything that was stated in that video? What's your take on the situation in Detriot? What would you say caused the decline?

The video shows an interesting take on the situation, raises some excellent points, but is not entirely accurate. Only because there were many factors involved with Motown's decline. Interestingly enough, it touched on some of them.

There were much more powerful trends going on in the 1950's and 1960's.

That was when the big migration to the suburbs began. Many folks could afford cars, so living on a quiet street with a bigger house, 2 car garage and a nice yard was quite appealing; albeit the sometimes nasty commute to work.

But here's the real ugly part that doesn't get mentioned:

Real estate agents, business executives, and politicians were in cahoots with each other. They not only sanctioned, but encouraged segregation. A young Black couple looking to buy a home? Let's show 'em houses in a Black neighborhood.

Seriously, look at some of the nicknames that certain parts of Detroit have.

Corktown.

An Irish enclave.

Mexicantown.

I'm not kidding.

Poletown.

Wanna guess the predominant heritage there?

There's a Greektown too.

The riots in the summer of 1967 was pretty much the end of Detroit though. The final nail in the coffin, so to speak.

Anyone with any means got out then, leaving Detroit to a bunch of cronies. There is a good 'ole boys network there, but it ain't lookin' too good right now. Hasn't looked good for quite a while.

Of course not as that would require something other than the typical Obama Fan Club automated reply.
