Lot of conservatives here sure drink a lot of kool-aid
I agree, but there are plenty of Liberal kool-aid drinkers too. I have no allegiance to the phony major parties in DC. In fact, I really think there is one party in DC, only its members run around with DINO and RINO name tags.
Please read up on "Libertarian Socialism". It's not what you think it is. I'm not interested in discussing this topic if you have no idea what you're talking about.

OK, so wikipedia says "Libertarian socialism (sometimes called social anarchism,[1][2] and sometimes left libertarianism[3])[4] is a group of political philosophies which aspire to create a society that is non-hierarchical, without private ownership of the means of production or an authoritarian state."
If that is about right, my original question makes sense: how do you reconcile libertarianism with no freedom to own the means of production? But I don't need your answer; I can see that libertarian socialism has little to do with being a plain libertarian.
You libs will never get it: conservatives do not believe they can solve all problems. They believe in the power of the people to solve their own problems. The lib before you on this thread sarcastically referenced the billion jobs conservatives would create if elected. Government does not create real jobs.
You got it. Liberals start and end looking to government to solve every problem. They depend on government to right all wrongs and make all equal.

That's a funny way to say we rely on the unswerving fundamental principles that have served this great nation well since 1776, instead of following a pied piper like Jim Jones or Barack Obama.

Just like some Conservatives look to high finance to create bubble after bubble after bubble. Look at the fine mess we're all in now. Government (both dems and repubs) colluding with banks and corporations is the problem.

The best way to prevent future bubbles is to not bail out those who invest in bubbles. It is the risk of real consequences that prevents mismanagement of investments. When those who are careless have their just dues mediated by government, the incentive to avoid risky behavior is removed.
The GSE, bank and auto bailouts have practically guaranteed we will see more careless investment in the future. Last I heard, the new financial services regulations will not reinstate Glass-Steigall so whatever the new super risky unregulated and highly leveraged investment vehicle becomes, nothing will prevent it from penetrating deep into the portfolios of investment firms that are still too large to fail.
