I would think a little longer than the previous delays (depending on how up to date the system is in your state) due to the fact that you are dealing with a 'retro' payment. They have to sort out who legitimately can receive it.

You'd think that all states would have done what some did (like Ga), just have you to continue to certify each week, through the phase out period. That way they would know, through some simple programming, who was still able to receive EUC/EB.

It seems dumb for some states to have told people to quit certifying each week. Sounds like that would add more work for them, once they got back up and running.

I have a question:

My initial claim will run out of money the week that ends August 14th. I know that I'll be eligible for Tier I EUC, which will run out of money on December 31st. Will I be eligible for tier II and tier III since I would have already applied for EUC (provided that I don't find a job between now and then), or will I be SOL if no new legislation is passed come January 1?

Gonna have to wait for a new bill to be passed. This only goes to the end of november so you can't move to a new tier with this bill

Depends on your state. If you're in a state that isn't 100% federally funded and as long as they're TUR is high enough, you're ok. Most states are 100% federally funded for EUC and EB so I hope you get a job by then cuz you'll be SOL if they don't extend again.

ON ANOTHER NOTE..

WHEN will OBAMA sign this bill????????????

http://content.usatoday.com/communit...ts-extension/1

It said 5:15!

I was fired from my job, so when I first filed for unemployment, I was denied. Then in a few weeks I was able to collect. I burned through the regular and tiers 1-4. Then I was told I was unable to collect the EB and ABT, even though I was in school, because I was fired. I was told to quit calling and that I would have to get a job that paid a certain amount for a certain amount of weeks to continue to collect. This was back in April. I haven't been able to get work, like most.

I was under the impression that the bill passed last night was Tier 5... was I wrong? And I thought I might be able to collect unemployment again under this new extension....

If not... what is the extension for? I'm confused!!!!!

Because they stopped everyone's employment after they finished the particular tier they were on. If you were on EB it stopped abruptly in June. They extended it to November so people who had theirs stopped now have it started again, and backpay is coming.

There is no Tier 5 as of yet, and more than likely there won't be. We barely got this one.

The states will receive the funds from the federal government on the next business day after the bill is signed into law by the President.

How quickly the states disperse benefits payments will depend on the capabilities of their respective systems.

The question posed by goyeanks57 was about eligibility for EUC Tiers (see above). All the EUC Tiers are 100% federally funded in all states -- so that has nothing to do with whether this poster will be getting Tier II or Tier III.

goyeanks57, spawn026 answered your question correctly (see reprint below).

You don't mention what state you are in, but some states that determine that you were fired for misconduct or gross misconduct will still allow you to collect some benefits.

As you have described, they can grant you regular benefits after a penalty waiting period; and the EUC Tiers have no eligibility restrictions based on "misconduct" --- as long as you qualify for regular benefits, you will qualify for the Tiers. However, in most states "misconduct" will disqualify you from collecting EB or ABT.

Accordingly, you have exhausted all the UI benefits available to you at this time. As far as the new legislation affects your situation, it extends the eligibility period for those who have not yet collected Tiers I, II, III, and IV -- which you have already done; and it reinstates 100% federal funding for EB -- for which you are not eligible.
