The Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense founded on the Christian religion

Many Religious Right activists have attempted to rewrite history by asserting that the United States government derived from Christian foundations, that our Founding Fathers originally aimed for a Christian nation. This idea simply does not hold to the historical evidence.

The Treaty of Tripoli
"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Musselmen; and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."
The U.S. NOT founded upon Christianity
Sure, and we don't have Christ mas as a national holiday either!!! Dry up and blow away, won't you.

I know we are not a theocracy, you seem to be hung up on that ... is it your new word for the week?

We can be a Christian nation without having Christian religious leadership.

Is common sense dead?

Read some of the writings of some the founders and look at the devoutness of many our leaders thru our history. Read some of Washington's writings.

"We are endowed by our Creator..." Sound familiar?

After giving it some serious consideration, I realize that the USA has ceased from being a Christian nation. Instead of fighting to restore the "Christian" nation, those of us who call ourselves true Christians need to focus more attention on living our lives as an example of Christ-like love. When a person has a true encounter with God, secular things cease to have appeal. We cannot "convert" anyone to Christianity ... All we can do is share the Gospel, pray for our nation and live our lives as examples of our faith. All this bickering about whether the USA is a Christian nation accomplishes NOTHING but creates more animosity between "Christians" and non-Christians, which does NOT please God.

For clarification, I don't support the idea of a theocracy at all, but I think it is important to remember that the .gov is not the highest authority, the voters are not the highest authority, that there are rights that we are born with that come from a higher power.

In that case, we have a really warped heritage and warped legacy that we ought to be doing the utmost to erase.

By the way, why you capitalized Heritage and Legacy as though you were speaking of a deity is unclear. Sounds almost like idolatry, doesn't it?

Jefferson called organized Christianity "the most perverted [ideological] system that ever shone on man." So much for "heritage" and "legacy".

Because school is closed on a secular hoilday it means that you are living in a Christian nation. Oh boy, that's a good one. You are the one that is in peril of blowing away due to all of that air in your head. I gave you written, documented proof of how mistaken and misguided you are as to the history of this country. Your lack of knowledge is astounding.

Okay, dumbo, I am going to take the gloves off and knock your virtual head out of the park, while your feet say in the ring.

I said the US is a Christian nation and that is indisputable. However, you are using the old stawman technique employed by those on whose side neither the facts nor the law reside.

You are asserting that because we are not a theocratic nation, where a religion is either in command, or an official organ of government, we are not a Christian nation, but of course they, like your virtual head and body, are not connected.

Our foundations, in all cases, from the nature of our mother country, to our belief systems, to the overwhelming numbers of Christians vs others, to the face that every aspect of our culture, official and otherwise in wrapped, no blended, with Christianity, prove that we are a Christian nation beyond doubt.

That thud, crash, splat you just heard was your head landing on a windshield in a car in the parking lot, bouncing off onto the pavement. The parking lot vacuum truck will suck it up later tonight.

Now, back to the kiddie pool you go.

bek atheism was not the platform the country was founded on.
why is that so hard to understand?
the country is deeply founded in masonic and monotheist beliefs and value systems.
people looking at these posts keep insisting in a watered down version of a "higher power" god.
curse of the age, too much watering down.
